I work as a tester also for Babel which is the number one company for functionality and localisation quality assurance. I was wondering if there were other companies in MTL other than the ones the developers have in house.

The job is fucking awesome and I hope you'll end up loving it as much as I do.
I'm feeling excited for eclipse right now..

Number one company? hahahahahah.... You mean, the way the Brits persecute the francos at Babel? Riiight.

So far, after having tried most QA companies in Montreal, I'd say, Gameloft is the best experience. That's where I'm working as of now.

Though I have to say, good job on Reservoir Dogs. I'm just easily irritated by bias employers. I've seen it happen to a friend of mine and from other Babel employees I've spoken to, it seems like a common occurance.

Well, friend of mine is a long way of seeing it. I met the bald dude at the Foufs. Know him? Forgot his name. He wears glasses.
I'm feeling nyarlathotypical right now..

There's a few places in Montreal. I did that at Ubisoft, my sister is working at this place now. They test mostly(maybe only?) for EA so it's mostly sports games and since it's for EA you get paid crappy EA wages(8$/h) but she still likes it anyway.

Yeah that's exactly what the dude from Volt just told me over the phone. They seem pretty cool with the flexible hours and all.

So I'll check it out and see how this goes. =)

It pays the best and apart from the freaks, pretty good people too. In fact many Babelites defected over to volt in the downtime of the company. everybody else pays dick, but considering you're getting the short end of the stick, alex!

all round good job, there's some decent folks at volt
I'm feeling weird right now..

Well, Babel does pay better for us that have been there for a while, but for the new dudes, the pay is the same as all the other places. But after all we are testing video game so we can't complain too much about the paycheck.

By the way, is it me or everybody is working in the video game industry around here?

And Niner as for what you said about francos, sad to say, but there is some true in that, but no place is perfect. And also Niner I know you know a lot of people that were at Babel at some point just tell the guy who told you about that game that we have signed a NDA (pretty much like all the employees in that industry )

...Hope to Rave with you all soon
I'm feeling amused right now..

Well, yes. We did too at Ubi and Do at Gameloft, though I guess with us, since it's homebrew, it doesn't matter if we tell about the game once it's out. I forget that other places might not share the same point of view.

Though I'm not sure the guy actually worked on that game. I think he was more of a cellphone guy. Hell, I don't know; I was getting too drunk by then to properly understand what the hell was going on.

And you know, the more I think of it, the more I realize that I do know a lot of people from a lot of companies. Sad thing is, I don't remember anyone's names... I was about to write about having good contacts but well... I guess not, hahah.

Also I think there is a good reason why there are a lot of testers in raves and ravesites. Most of us listen to a form of techno music, thanks to the games we played since being kids. So it's normal: it's the kind of music we've most heard through the years.

Actually, now that there are two Babel guys here, maybe one of you know who I'm talking about? Like I said, I forgot his name. Bald man, goatee, not very tall. Wore round glasses and had a weird lisp. Spoke French, mostly. Man, there were like ten testers from different companies there that night...
I'm feeling yog-soggothic right now..
