Well, for those that do care.. World Community Grid is a distributed supercomputer to help researchers (e.g. medical researchers looking to cure stuff like aids, cancer, malaria.. etc).. when your computer's on and doing nothing, why not donate your CPU cycles to help out..

that's exactly what this is.. SETI came up with the idea, then World Community Grid (IBM made it) made one that allowed other groups to use their software to help their initiatives..
I'm feeling sore right now..

Hahahaha, that's one of the things they tell you not to do..

"Only install World Community Grid on computers that you own or have permission to be running it on".
I'm feeling anxious right now..

How can they get in trouble? It's fucking incredible how absolutely no one has any sence of responsibility anymore. That's like a company going after Microsoft because an employee installed MSN Messanger; the problem isn't the availability of the software, it's what the person did.
I'm feeling a murderous rage right now..

wait till you get sued by someone, then you'll know to try avoiding it like the plague.

So, if I take a knife and stab you in the stomach, are you going to sue the knife-making company? If I take a shotgun and blow your parent's heads off, are you going to want the cops to arrest the man who sold me the gun while I walk around free?

The company has made a tool. What you do with it is not their fault, it is the fault of the person who used/missused it
I'm feeling a murderous rage right now..

If the knife company had billions of dollars, enough to pay you off to drop the suit.. ?

People will sue for anything if they think they can make money. IBM doesn't want to get sued for something they're doing for free (at a loss).
