Gone are the days when people used to write letters and preserve their images and those handwritten stories in a box, so when the person dies his dear ones can cherish the sweet memories and weep over the harsh ones. After the advent of the digital era, today people prefer sending emails rather than pouring their heart out using paper and pen. Michele Gauler's graduation project at Interaction Design RCA is concerned with keeping track of a person’s digital records which is actually a record of their activities with computer like music and word files. “Digital remains” is a virtual world in which our data is stored on the network creating digital archives of generations of people. The program requires personal access keys to log on the digital remains of a person and receive their data on our own digital devices. When a mobile phone, MP3 player or computer is placed in the vicinity, the keys establish a Bluetooth connection with the device and trigger a remote log-on to the digital remains of the deceased person they are linked to, allowing a person to access the dead person's data. |
