murdock got a point too
but between Earl repping the acidcore Murdock repping the nuskool breaks Prelar repping the Chicago electrotech or whatever in god's name you guyees prefer to call it and the rest of us biotches ppl like to have fun and have a "rave up" in different contexts ginos and 30 year old power puff girls got a freedom of choice it's not the choice i would prefer but hey it's free dumb some people dont got a chance to live it up in their youth or whatever we all got different reasons to get up and get down in any case it's always easy to judge others and think like we know it all but really it's the hardest to look within and find our own answers prelar's point hit a nerve - i think it's pretty amazing we got these drum machine grooves funky drummer samples hoover synth riffs 303 basslines and such and people congregating to celebrate life and dance and all that my point is... sheesh what was my point anyways rave on we working with different definitions here rave: # participate in an all-night techno dance party # rant: talk in a noisy, excited, or declamatory manner # a dance party that lasts all night and electronically synthesized music is played; "raves are very popular in Berlin" # an extravagantly enthusiastic review; "he gave it a rave" # praise enthusiastically; "She raved about that new restaurant" wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn rave-up: a raucous gathering wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn |

Of course its over. And I am glad too. I am not saying "ohhh..the good old days". Fuck that, today is today and I am the very first one to live in the present. My point here is simply that a lot of retards outhere have not fuckin idea where their passion comes from and how it all started. And it is quite easy to spot when they speak or write. But me when I like something, I like to learn more about it, know the roots of it to understand it more and when/how it all started. But who knows, I might be wrong, whatever.
But yeah.... Definitly, ghetto tabarnak! |

also your point about laziness, prelar...
out of the ppl who who post here in this thread you got dope releases on a dope record company you do it because it's your goal and you have the courage and the synergy to work it like that &having a work ethic and all that ppl can sit around and nag and whine all day some people don't even know what or how to do with themselves but at the end of the day it's whoever is living their dream and working it and doing good that's hitting it in the head of the nail so to speak |

Word madeskimo. You know that laziness thing around people these days (or was it always like that!?) is killing me. I guess it goes with the same laziness flow we are surrounded nowadays: fast food, fast art like cinema and cheap music, fast everything for the lazy masses. |

I agree. I am not a lazy person and like to be around the same kinda people. I stopped going to so many parties this year because I got sick of it and wanted to try other things. It just became so boring and repetitive. Maybe I got older? I just wish tech wasnt so popular in clubs. I have been hitting the clubs more often and I find tech to be the next big thing. Yuck. I guess we are catching up to the european club scene, as when I was there a few years back tech was everywhereeeeeee.
I am going to eclipse though. See y'all there! |

haha!!
you make me laugh earl!! you blimey british sod! no doubt things are a little different in the europe than in north america... but its not like we bleed a different color or anything. our rave scene peaked out probbably around 94 and 99 sometime. there was electronic music in the city before that but it was mostly just in the gay clubs.. and you had to places like like the old "kox" if you wanted to hear techno. i got into it probably around 96 as a punkrock skater kid who pretty much just wanted to cop cheap feels on girls on extasy. i honestly didn't really like techno, trance or house that much and the was more into freaky turntablism and drum and bass and of coarse breakbeats. the first few partys i went too in 96 all i really knew was that techno house and trance rooms contained more sweaty topless dudes in track pants running around blowing whistles than i wanted to accociate with. so i only went to partys that "kid koala" or "ninja tune" on them somewhere... i also got into breakbeat hardcore and gabber for a bit but the kids at those partys did WAY too many drugs, dressed like pre-school rejects and all spoke french so the vibe just didn't work for me. around the turn of the century the rave scene crashed hard though... partys went from having 1000's of ppl to having hundreds and a cross between september 11th and police crackdowns made ppl alot less eager to shell out 60$cdn to go to the next mega party... smaller cheaper loft partys started replacing the raves and drug awareness made alot of kids turn back alcohol. leaving us where we are in now... the word "rave" has since become accociated with psuedo (my new word) idiocy and it became embarassing to even tell ppl that your a dj. we've been in limbo ever since are just all kinda waiting around for the next big thing... electro clash was a valiant attempt but kinda got diluted with house music and or really bad production quality as it matured into what it is today. what the future holds? i haven't the slightest.... which is kinda cool acctually... cuz its incouraged me to dj and make music with a wider range of musical genres rather than most of the primitive pigeon holes of electronica. but thats 1 opinion from 1 side of the ocean... feel free to state your own. im also wondering if you guys think the gap is narrowing since the internet went mainstream? one thing i've noticed is alot of northamerican working directly with europeans all without even leaving thier own continent. a great example (and shameless promo) would be my crews radio show wich airs every wensday from 7:00 -10:00 montreal timeon [ www.ibreaks.co.uk ] BO!! |

well herds the story from the other side of the pond :)
well oviously we gaind our acid sound from ibiza - detroit - were ever in the late 80's..it fucking blew up over here, warehouses every weekend, fields with huge tents, huge feilds with no tents, hippie camps turned into full on week raves (spril tribe)..the list goes on,then Thatcher decides 'i we cant stop them,we'll legalise it,put laws on it and stop them that way'..what a slut. i heard many a story on noise levals to low,(i seen the prodigy just before christmas, they gave a shout out to the original REZ crew..at the rez, sound was so low, they walked off in 92??..) police piss taking and basicaly shutting raves down all over..by 93 the events turned to the clubs, rave died off or did toy town rave (altern8,trip to trumton, seasemi treat etc) ,in comes the 'house' sound '-retro house-' painos etc......97 dance makes come back with trance ,peaks then dies 2002,then down reasons?,,piss poor drugs...to much money making going on..dj's getting paid too much and all this A-List bollocks (carl cox got a crate of lager .i think,to dj at the REZ in newcastle early doors of his career, but dont count me on that) i love the old acid house, early rave 87-92,the fact you could party when u wonted, were u wonted was fantastic...thats why we still do it now, scaled down....we even put on semi legal events in secret locations (castles) and put buses on,same vibe as u used to get,but different music (altho i do have a dirty rave pit room ) old skool made a slight come back early 2003,but not for long..as old ravers move on to lesser harsh music..house etc, thats why clubs like shindig were i live hav survived like 12 years or more, playing the 'safe sound' as i call it :) TRANCE KILLED DANCE ????????????????????? PISS POOR 'E' KILLED DANCE????????? look at hard house,it new skool rave, hoovers etc..just not as good.... if none of this makes any sense then i think you blokes over there might say 'then bite me' i would say 'well fuck off' :) :) :) ps..all my comments seem negative...thats cos i havent told you any rave storys yet to make up for it :) |
