don't know if anyone has already mentioned it, but I just saw "It's all gone Pete Tong", by the same dude who made FUBAR...it's about a DJ that goes deaf and all the shit that ensues...I would suggest it to any DJs or fans of the art...though it's centered around the Ibiza scene, it's a fairly accurate, yet silly portrayal of the DJ life, and it's a little sobering too...anyway, it's a mockumentary type film, supposedly based on a true story, so check it out...

I heard that movie was incredible... Well, not incredible, but totally fucking awesome, to say the least.

I think I saw it at an afterhours in Edmonton (No volume though).

Hey, does anyone know where I can buy the Michel Gondry Video... you know, like the ones Spike Jones and Chris Cunningham have?

If you like Music Videos: Check out Bjork's "Army of Me" and "Hyperballad"... Both really good songs imo, and awesome videos to boot.

Is that the same video where they sing "I am... Son of Man... from royal-fam... wu-tang clan... never gave a damn!!!" or someshit, and they start throwing lightning bolts and doing Kung-fu on chess pieces??

Hey Betty, here's a piece of Trivia that you can hopefully answer me: In the movie "Neon Genesis: The End of Evangelion" what is the name of the song being played in the menu screen? (I think it's by Johann Sebastian Bach)... If you find me that song, I'll kidnap Mathieu Kassovitz for you, and drop him off at your home with a little pink bow wrapped around his head.

As for a Review:

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
Written & Directed by: Hideaki Anno
1997, Gainax

Do you believe that there can never possibly be anyone more depressed, alienated, perverted or just generally more fucked up than you are? If you answered "yes" to my aforementioned question, then your DEAD WRONG!! Dead. Dead. Dead wrong!! Wrong!!! Written and directed by revered Hideaki Anno, known for his amazing visual style (and his depression, which is credited to his creation of Neon Genesis Evangelion) and his works such as Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise (1987) as well as Cutie Honey (2004), which was screen at Montreal's Fantasia Festival. Mr. Anno has presented us with the final installment, the chilling conclusion, the GRANDE FINALE of Neon Genesis Evangleion with -the recreation of episode 25 & 26- "The End of Evangelion"!!!1!OMFG1!!

If you didn't know (because if you don't, i'm going to tell you right now) that Hideaki Anno went through a terrible four-year depression in the early nineties, after working on the popular series "Nadia: the secret of Blue Water". During this time, he continued to work for the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) on "Castle in the Sky." All the while, Anno managed to create the most fantastic characters, which were to be used in his next TV series project (hereto) Neon Genesis Evangelion.

This series became a landmark in the Japanese anime cult world, for it's outsanding depth and also for its returning to the traditional japanese anime style -you know, giant robots n' shit. First premiering on childrens' televison timeslot, this show was like any typical childrens' anime (FULL OF VIOLENCE AND TRAUMATIZING THEMES!). The first half of the series is action packed and superbly drawn, truly defining Anno s' abilites and redefining animation in its entirety.

The first half of the series also allowed the viewers to acquaint themselves with our main protagonists: "Shinji Ikari, a shy, dour, and adolescent boy, who becomes an Eva pilot... Rei Ayanami, a silent girl frequently accused of being unemotional and Asuka Langley Sohryu, a fiery, proud, red-headed girl, who always finds a way to gloat about her skills and repuation as the first Battle Eva Pilot. Then there is Gendo Ikari, Shinji's mysterious father and NERV's commander; Misato Katsuragi, NERV's head of strategy and tactics; and Ritsuko Akagi, NERV's head scientist. If you manage to keep up with all of this, you'll realize that most of the characters are struggling with their positions in their environment, as individuals and as a part of a whole. To say the lease, the pattern of relationships between the characters is (extremely) complex."

If you ever decide to watch the whole series -which is recomended if you ever decide to understand anything what-so-ever about this movie- you can notice the exact moment where this series shifts from being a regular robo-children's show, to a dark and psychologically twisted tale about Hideaki Anno's depression. He believed that children should be exposed at a very young age, to the realities, the trials and tribulations, of human life. Whether he was right or wrong (we shall find out in a few years if kids start killing themselves or become devout Christians) is irrelivant -so why did I bring it up? I don't know.

Anyways, from episode 13, the direction of the series takes a ridiculous turn. Tradionally, series follow a linear plot line, taking viewers through the series from one moment to the next until characters find true love and where Good triumphs over Evil, but not NGE. All logical narratives are thrown out the window, and the fabulous fantasy world is forever changed into universe of fear, of pain and of unrelenting and indiscriminating madness. Each of Anno's characters represent (and I quote) Freudian Psyche: the Ego, the Super-Ego, and Id. With these characters Anno convey's his views on a variety of mood disorders and problems with emotional health, especially depression, trauma, and separation anxiety disorder. This nightmare pretty much continues until the final two episodes, which is where this movie (fi-nally) comes into play.

Many of the viewers who followed this show were extremely disapointed by the way Anno decided to end this magnificant series. The actual ending can be viewed by downloading the entire series, or by simply renting or purchasing Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth from [ Amazon.com ] for $26.99!! (WOW, what a deal!) which is a brief 2-hour summary of the whole entire series, that eventually leads up to the fucking movie that i'm going through great lengths to explain. Anyways, people were fucking pissed off!! Some even went as far as sending him death threats!! [ ] one of them ... It says: I'll Kill you!!!) Because of this, Anno and his team decided to take another shot at the ending the series (pun intented). The result was: End of Evangleion.

This movies visual scenery is, with a doubt, utterly to die for. The texture, the detail and fluidity of it's movements are unmatched for it's time -not even by Katsuhiro Ôtomo's Akira. Even the depth to which all of these characters are taken, in my experience, has never been done. Take this years Best Picture, CRASH, and multiply it by a hundred-thousand-billion!! Okay... I have a tendency of being hyperbolic when I write, but really, these guys, they're like, really, fucking deep man... like, "whoa, that's deep, man." The animated style of the film, apparently, contains some type of postmodern-shit in it. With that said, should you ever watch this movie, you can come to your own conclusions about the art style. However, regarding postmodernism, the plot can match the criteria to suffice critics enough to say that: YES, this is postmodern. Ultimately, with regards to knowledge and emotional experience, NGE tells us that Life, is truly subjective and that no-one body or that one single establishment can tell you what Life is, or how you should experience it. With the psychological aspect of the series' plot, viewers can analyze the relativity of the use of Christian symbols and the meaning of "the individual."
Also using the another postmodern style, known as "Superflat", Anno managed to denouce the [ ] lifestyle, one which he had apprently been living, through one of the most infamous scenes in the movie, where Ichi the killer... I mean Shinji! Where Shinji is masturbating over a comatose Asuka, and after (when he's done) looking at his cum-covered hand, says: "I'm so fucked up." With the use of Rei, the weird quiet girl, as a sex symbol, goes further to criticise Otaku and his resentment towards perverts. A life which Anno considers a form of autism.

So watch out you fucking Trekies!! Hideaki Anno thinks your all fucking LOSERS! Faggots!
* "Eek!" yelps Mico, as runs and hides to further shy away from this cold and alienating society*

As mentionaed before, the use of symbolism is not only profound... but more tanatalizing than a sweedish porno! Truly, it can make one so excited, he could say: "What!? *honk honk*The Matrix, pfft, that's, like... childs play." Weaved in every slippery and wet orifice of this movie lay wisely places symbols reflecting todays culture and society, as well as the truth of individual behaviour. Even though the producers would tell you that they used Christian symbols (where 1% of Japan's population practices Christianity) to make the show different from other giant-robot shows, and also because they thought "Christianity looks cool!", the premise of the show can revolve around the ideas found in the Bible. Truly to complex to explain -like the Bible- it's really up to you to figure out what it all means.

To give an idea of truly perplexing this movie can be, allow me to post the PLOT: Ahem...

The movie begins with SEELE hacking into NERV's Magi super-computer; Gendo Ikari duped SEELE- he had his own agenda which involved the Human Instrumentality project. Ritsuko Akagi sets up a protection system for the Magi that lasts for 62 hours; as time is short, SEELE is forced to send in the army (the JSSDF or Japanese Strategic Self Defense Force). The JSSDF directly infiltrates NERV, killing all personnel they come across. The NERV staff make a last stand in the Command Center where the Magi is located. Asuka, after realizing her mother's soul has always been with her in Unit 02, awakens from her comatose state and defends NERV HQ. After the JSSDF forces are repelled with the aid of Unit 02, SEELE then sends their mass-production Evangelion units to the Geofront (exposed after the detonation of an N² weapon). Misato drags Shinji to Unit 01 and attempts to convince him to pilot it once more before she dies. Unit 02's internal batteries become depleted after battling for three-and-a-half minutes with the nine mass-produced Evangelions, and consequently, they systematically eviscerate Unit 02. It is then confirmed that Asuka is dead.
Gendo Ikari secretly intends to perform Instrumentality in a different way than that proposed by SEELE, allowing him to reunite with his dead wife, using Rei. However, Rei defies Gendo's control and merges with Lilith on her own, transforming into a moving giant, glowing white figure; this composite Rei/Lilith entity finally placed the process of Instrumentality into Shinji's hands. In order for people to willingly let down their AT-Fields for her, Lilith takes on several forms and approaches each human individually in the form of the person he or she loves the most (as trust is the only force that breaks an AT-Field), or simply forces her way past their AT-Fields if he or she has no loved one (as is the case with Aoba); these actions reduce every human to a pool of LCL.
This is Instrumentality starting, possibly initiated on Shinji Ikari's decision from within Evangelion Unit 01. The Egg of Lilith rises from the Geofront, into Lilith's hands, who has grown to planetary proportions and takes the form of Rei Ayanami. The souls of all human beings, represented as a red, marble-sized dots, make their way back into the egg. At the last moment, however, Shinji rejects Instrumentality and decides to live his life as a separate individual, thereby undoing all Lilith had sought to create. Lilith's physical form dies and decomposes, and the egg explodes. Shinji returns to earth with his physical form, but Unit 01 and the Lance of Longinus, drift off into space, seemingly for the rest of eternity. The mass-production Evangelion units fall to Earth in crucifix-like postures. In the final scene, the only two people on the entire planet are Shinji and Asuka, as the rest of humanity has not yet come to terms with its ability to "return to individuality".

... So there it is. The movie in a nutshell. This is truly a landmark in cinematic history. Even though it was originally made to satisfy a few psycho's, this movie goes beyond what one normally sits down to watch. If anyone of you have seen this movie disagree's with me: Kiss my ass! If you ask why the fuck I wrote this long fucking review, the answer is: Because I really like this move, I like writing reviews, I have low self-esteem and needed an ego boost, and because I was really fucking bored, and needed something occupy myself with. So now i'll go buy myself a Colt-45, and drink it in a park, right across from a swimming pool...

yeah ! i have a shit load of crack!!! ;) !

YEAH! i had a lot of friends who were listening IAM when i was in high school ! but the " je danse le mia " video is much more before the bad boy period when they sang with the wu-tang clan...it was like in 91 or 92 ...it's just hilarious because they look so sweet and the lyrics are very...hum wait i'm gonna post it like that you gonna see the diference between the two periods!

Dès qu'ils passaient Cameo Midnight Star

L'un disait fils t'as aucune chance

DJ Speech :
au New starflash Lazerline Hatchin Club,

mmmm...*in the moon remembering betty at age 9,jumping in the couach and freaking out her momy*

i can answer your question because i never seen this movie ! hahahaha ! and maybe it's better like that : poor mathieu kassovitz..he would be killed by my husband ! hahahaha !! ;P !

but i'm really gonna try to see this serie and movie...look interesting ! for the freud character i don't know i had my first big " chicane " with freud when i was fourteen but i like the symbolic of Jung so i might be captivate by this movie ! it's on my long interminable list of movie i have too see before i die !! haha ! i was laughing when i click on the threat letter!! i was waiting for a translation hahaah!i learn a lot while reading you ! like i didn't know the word otaku...

why are you shy to write a long review ? you should be happy because you are gifted. in my mass communication class i learn the fonctionnaliste theory who says that the majority of people prefer reading than expressing an opinion ! it's give little power at people like us over the powerfull convergents media!but you know it's just a theory...but i please myself and try to believe it !
it's not everybody who can do that in public space.

u should go in cinema or writting school! i see so much potentiel in your text ! and you make me practice my english !me, i could be lazy and writting beautiful reviews in my first language but i prefer trying to become better in english ! i hope i will be good as you one day ! and + your text are way much more captiving than the fucking university english book i had to work with!(example...last week theme: eldery people...heu ok...i think the class gona be long and... boring!)

and u said that u have low self esteem ! i'm sad to read that because it's always the wrong people who feel like that..never the asshole...and ego boost are never really usefull because it's go away fast...i don't know you and your life but you seem smart and u should be productive with the gift/talent that you have! so...smile and take a pencil or a camera !

hope your colt-45 was cold and refreshing ! here it's a fucking canicule !
anyway come back here writting man ! :) !

palindrome writting&directed by todd solondz usa
2005 9/10

i'm a huge fan of solondz movies...
welcome to the dollhouse,storytelling,happiness...
was so good and reeflected well the deep america..this one make no exception...
but it is his stangest movie...
not the kind of strange stuff a la cronenberg or gorish shit...just the concept&subject are enough !

solondz always break taboo(-remember the perverted prank caller, a serial-killing fatty, a struggling novelist who wished she was raped as a little girl and a psychiatrist who is secretly a homosexual pedophile of his acclamed movie hapinness!).
but this time he push the thing at the maximum...
but i have bad taste and like to laugh about politic in correct shit...

i don't want to loose u guys so before starting to write more about it...here goes the story...

SYNOPSIS:A fable of innocence: thirteen-year-old Aviva Victor wants to be a 'mom'. She does all she can to make this happen, and comes very close to succeeding, but in the end her plan is thwarted by her sensible parents. So she runs away, still determined to get pregnant one way or another, but instead finds herself lost in another world, a less sensible one, perhaps, but one pregnant itself with all sorts of strange possibility. She takes a road trip from the suburbs of New Jersey, through Ohio to the plains of Kansas and back. Like so many trips, this one is round-trip, and it's hard to say in the end if she can ever be quite the same again, or if she can ever be anything but the same again.

ok...now you gonna think: heu...that's a fucking drama ,that's it...

but well the fact is that the main character is played by a lot of different actrices...each "chapters" have a different actrices and they don't look the same at all!(example: a obese black woman or a innocent white girl..) so it's play alot with the identification so researched by the majority of hollywood movies...but well tod solondz is one of the art indie american king director....

the humour noir is perfect and we laugh alot ! be ready for a pop christian handicaped band singing gospel !-hilarious !

the part filmed in camcorder bothered me little bit but umm i thing it was a really good directing..
ellen berkin, jenifer jason leigh and all the little girls(and the fat black one!) who played the main character did a excellent job...they all adopted the same tonality of voice...

i was also surprise to recognize the same charater played by the same guy than in welcome to the doolhouse..mark wiener....it's a small part but i think it's the key of the movie...
--- life is not perfect and anyone never really change...

woow ! go rent it or buy it ! moi , i'm very happy to own it,it's the kind of movie i'm gonna watch it often!
