Martin Scorses!! OH mah' Ghad!!
*Cheers!!*

Hehe, good concept with the interview, Betty.

P.S: Thanks for the comment about being a critic. I love to write as much as I love cinema. If I don't become a Director of Photography, at least I know i'll be capable of being a film critic.

Layer Cake(2004)
Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
Writing credits: J.J. Connolly (novel & screenplay)

Do you like gangster movies? What about Drugs, do you like those too? If you don't, your certainly going to be a pill-popping, gun toting, crack smoking, son-of-a-beeetch, after watching this flick... Bitch!

An adaptation of it's eponym "Layer Cake" written by J.J. Connolly, delves its' viewers into Englands' lush, vile and violent drug dealing underworld . Our anonymous cocain pushing protagonist, played by Daniel Craig (nominated for an Empire Award and Audience Award), leads us hand and foot down the not-so-dark life of a drug dealer who plans on making his riches and -pardon my French- "getting the fuck out!"... Quick. But our nameless fellow soon finds out doing so won't be as simple as it seems. Oh no, before cutting clear his clean million, Mr. X finds himself doing a favour for his biggest customer, Jimmy (some other rich drug pushing bastard), to track down the daughter of one of his rich drug pushing friends (who also happens to be a bastard). From there, Matthew Vaughn (nominated for two, and winning an Empire Award for best director) reveals that the luxuries that come with pushing pills come with a serious price... a price that just may cost you your life, or at the very least, the lives of everyone around you.

With an awesome sound track, phenomenal editing and an air-tight cast, this flick is definitely worth renting. Hell, add it to your collection!

To leave you suckling for more, i'll leave you with these words:
"I'm not a gangster. I'm a businessman whose commodity happens to be cocaine."

10/10

i watched layer cake...i think it was good...the light, the actor, the filming,la photo...in fact i apreciate everything touching the technique side...my problem was more with the ambiance and the screenplay...i feel they tryed to reproduce the one of typic england gangster movies...it's work weel for guy ritchie but i think now the genre s'essoufle ! also, the first 10 minutes you got a narration by the main caracter but after you got a narration exponentielle...i realy prefer the first option, with the ''i'' ...
but it was a realy nice entertainment...i was happy to see it...some parts are realy funny...my fav is when they are in the restaurant with the guy and he beat him...they make jumpcut in the editing and i like it !it's like in the new wave but little less delinquant !!! 8/10 !

for horror fans: i discovered this series of DVD's, called Masters Of Horror. there are 13 DVD's, and each one has 2 one-hour long short movies by famous horror directors. i've seen 4 of the shorts now, and theyre pretty goddam good. one is H.P Lovecraft's Dreams in the Witch-House, which totally kicked ass. anything lovecraft owns imho...theres also one directed by Tobe Hooper (original texas chainsaw) so i recommend checking them out if youre a horror fan and havent been able to dig up any good sustenance recently...

Meet Walter (Chris "Turnip" Simmons) a lonely pathetic little wretch whose only two ambitions in life are to be good at something, ANYTHING, and to find the girl of his dreams. Unfortunately, success can seem a distant dream when his slovenly roommate Dave (Steven "Flyboy" Tracy) walks all over him and never pays his share of his rent or when Walter's low self-esteem keeps him from seeing the love right under his nose, Ann (Lindsy Husak).

However, in a world where Charles Manson (Jeff "Cheesepeck" Alexander) is running for President of the United States and the ghost of Jack the Ripper (Jill "Bacon Eyes" Emmert) still walks the earth, anything is possible. Will Walter be able to find it within himself to make all his dreams come true? Will he be able to be the man...the BAG MAN?

the first one is the one you try to find ! i was it's impossible that the guy of trauma appear in a little quebec movie but it seem that he did it after he liked it !

this is an extract or an article :

One of the most ambitious short films screening is Le Bagman, an especially gory spoof of every low-rent horror franchise of the past decade, from Candyman to Jeepers Creepers. The unstoppable Bagman -- a slasher who wears a brown paper bag over his head at all times -- takes on an entire group of high-kicking youth, all of whom meet dismal ends trying to do in the anti-hero.

“We basically set out to make the goriest, bloodiest movie we possibly could,” says Jonathan Prevost, who co-directed and co-wrote the film with Anouk Whissell and Francois Simard.

“We love horror, and we had all made horror films in high school before we’d ever met,” Prevost recalls. “We were especially into the gory films of Peter Jackson, like Dead Alive.

“Spasm festival has been a big help for us. And we showed the film at Tromadance, the alternative film festival held in Utah at the same time as Sundance. [Troma founder and filmmaker] Lloyd Kaufman loved Bagman, he just raved about it. We were thrilled,” says Prevost. In April, a Bagman DVD will be released. Work has commenced on a feature-length version.

“I really don’t know why horror hasn’t taken off sooner in Quebec. But I’m just glad it’s finally getting its due.”

so.....take you credit card and it's only 15 $ !
good price !

I just watched Brown Bunny by Vincent Gallo, also starring Vincent Gallo, and I have one thing to say: VINCENT, I HOPE YOU DROWN IN YOUR OWN SHIT!!!!!!!!! That was the worst piece of shit ever created by a man. The whole movie consisted of Vincent driving in his van, and the whole thing was filmed by a cheap camera. And the first time he stopped for gas, he went inside the drugstore, stared at the counter girl for a while, then said: come with me please...(pause)...please...(pause)...please, come with me. And the girl said yes of course. Ewww, he has those foetus eyes with a blank stare. And at the end, I got to see his big cock getting sucked by Chloe Sevigny. She made yes and no noises the whole time while giving head, which was pretty disturbing. Oh god, I wonder why this movie got any attention at all. It was so bad, and uber boring. 0/10

I also watched Laputa: castle in the sky, which was a cute anime movie made by Studio Ghibli. They made some really good stuff like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. This one was nice, but the whole castle in the sky theme wasn't exploited enough to my taste. The fact that the place was abandoned kind of killed it for me. There was so much anticipation around Laputa, and it ended up being ruins. Still worth watching, but not the best of it's kind. 7.5/10

2 of my fav quotes :

that is the scene when duke get shot in the store...he's dying...

- Duke: The lights are growing dim Otto. I know a life of crime has led me to this sorry fate, and yet, I blame society. Society made me what I am.

Otto: That's bullshit. You're a white suburban punk just like me.

Duke: Yeah, but it still hurts.

**************************************
- Debbi: Duke, let's go do some crimes.

Duke: Yeah. Let's go get sushi and not pay.

*************************************

hahahaha ! ok...avyway...if you have never seen this movie BEFORE just run rent it !

SYNOPSIS : Frustrated punk rocker Otto quits his supermarket job after slugging a co-worker, and is later dumped by his girlfriend at a party. Wandering the streets in frustration, he is recruited in the repossession of a car by a repo agent. After discovering his parents have donated his college fund to a televangelist, he joins the repossession agency (Helping Hand Acceptance Corporation) as an apprentice "repo man". During his training, he is introduced into the mercenary and paranoid world of the drivers, befriended by a UFO conspiracy theorist, confronted by rival repo agents, discovers some of his one-time friends have turned to a life of crime, is lectured to about cosmic unconsciousness by the repo agency grounds worker, and finds himself entangled in a web of intrigue concerning a huge repossession bounty on a 1964 Chevy Malabu driven by a lunatic government scientist, with Top Secret cargo in the trunk...

FUN INFO ABOUT THE MOVIE :

When filming began, they only had one 1964 Chevy Malibu. It was stolen a couple of days into filming, forcing the film crew to scramble to find a replacement. Shortly after finding a replacement, the original was recovered by the police undamaged. This was fortunate timing because about a day later Fox Harris severely damaged one of the Malibus by accidentally plowing it into a gasoline pump! In the carwash scene, one of the gas pumps is clearly severely dented up and damaged. This is the pump Fox plowed into in a previous take.

The company that makes the "xmas tree" air fresheners was one of the sponsors of the movie.

The photo of aliens that Leila shows Otto, which is thought by some to be a plate of shrimp, is actually condoms filled with water wearing grass shirts.

When the Asimov character is in the phone booth using a "coding device" to talk to Leila, his dialogue is played backwards. The scrambled voice is someone reciting a poem from Alice and Wonderland.

When Layla is talking to the scientist when he's in the phone booth and he's on the scrambler all Layla can hear is gibberish. this is because he's actually talking backwards but even when played backwards its hard to make out what he is saying

Amid the confusion surrounding the glowing Chevy, you can hear Bud saying, "I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees." This is a quote attributed to the Mexican revolutionary Emilio Zapata.

Lance Hendrickson was a front runner for the part of the lobotomized driver of the Chevy Malibu. Dennis Hopper was considered for the role of Bud, but his erratic behavior at the time ultimately made him unsuitable for the part.

While scouting for locations, the crew encountered Muhammad Ali, who was training at a local gym. He was propositioned to do the scene at the movie's finale; it would have played like so: Ali would have exited the helicopter along with the three Holy Men. Ultimately, after the glowing Chevy Malibu refused to allow the Priest, Bishop, and Rabbi to come any closer, the greatest boxer who ever lived would attempt to approach the car; but he too would fail to make contact. Ali politely declined to do the scene.

An alternate ending was planned but never filmed: Otto was to join a group of South American revolutionaries. A small element of this ending can be viewed in the scene in which Marlene is at the Rodriguez brothers home, where an arsenal of weapons is stashed.

No special effects were used to make the Chevy Malibu glow while parked at the repossession lot. Instead, the car was completely coated with 3M reflective paint, at an approximate price of $600 per bucket.

The concept of the smoking boots remaining after the Chevy Malibu's trunk disintegrates the Police Officer and Archie was lifted directly from 1983's Timerider.

The song that Otto sings as he walks away from the train tracks and drinks beer is "TV Party" by Black Flag.

In the supermarket where Otto works all the produce is Pick&Pay no name brand packaging, the signature of Jonathan Wacks South African connection, where Pick&Pay is a major supermarket chain.

REPO MAN THEME SONG BY IGGY POP :

I was riding on a concrete slab,
Down a river of useless LAND
It was such a beautiful day
I heard a witchdoctor say,
"I'll turn you into a toadstool"
I'm looking for the DOPE with a microscope
My muscle's twitching on your words
If you're on the streets you lose your nerves
Divinity throws you a curve
Sticks you and then you go beserk
HARBORING no inspiration.
I'm looking for the DOPE with a microscope
Page out of a comic book
A chicken hanging on a hook
A river and a babbling brook
A SERMONETTE OF TEENAGE SMUT
Shaking my hand at your fake face
A SUICIDAL certain look
A microphone a loose guitar
People feeling near and far
Stupidity a mental scar
OH CRUELTY OH cruelty
As life goes by you in a blurr
An achoholic AT THE BAR
Everything just goes to far
I was pissing on the desert sands,
When the desert whispered to me,
IT SAID Isn't this a shame?
Things will never be the same..."
I run this gas and oasis
Now I'm looking for the DOPE with a microscope
I was a teenage dinosaur, stoned and obsolete
I didn't get fucked and I didn't get kissed
I got so fucking PISSED
Using my head for an ashtray
Now I'll tell you who I am
I'm the Repo-Man
And I'm looking for the DOPE
Looking for the DOPE
I'm looking for the DOPE with a microscope
