I haven't partied in awhile. I'm waiting until my birthday to do anything crazy. Plus I really don't like the scene here in Edmonton, so i'm staying home.

As for movies, I saw the DaVinci Code, and was fucking good! The cinematography and special effects were amazing. My brother said that the book had much more suspense and that a lot of the story from the book was removed as well -kinda like Harry Potter: GoF. But still... I was really impressed, and had a fun time watching it.

I also bought Waking Life and watched it for the first time. And I must say: "WOW!" I've never seen a movie go that deep into philosophy. I was extemely impressed with the animation. It makes me even more excited to see Scanner Darkly. I was also surprised to see the amount of famous actors in the movie: Alex Jones, Ethan Hawke & Julie Delpy (which I thought was really cool... "Before & After Sunset"), Adam Goldberg and even director had a role at the end.
I'm definitly going to watch a few more times.

Happy to hear you made some money of your show.
I'll check the pics, too.

I recommend Jan Svankmajer's Alice. The absence of music creates a unique ambience. I'm surprised it didn't get more reviews.

I also liked Tokyo Godfathers, it was a nice heartwarming japanese animation movie. Satoshi Kon should be proud of himself.

House of Fools (Dom Durakov, english subtitles) is also a movie to watch. It's strange in every way (but enjoyable), even more for me, since I speak russian. I found it on [ zip.ca ] but I'm not sure it's available in movie rental places.

I recently watched Les Diables, a french movie about 2 orphans (the older sister is autistic, or somehow retarded, and her younger brother keeps fighting for them to stay together). It's disturbing, especially when she hits puberty *shivers*.

Golden Chicken: a movie about the adventures of a prostitute. It was a light comedy, without much plot, but the main character makes it charming and a must-see.

Akira: a classic. I liked it.

Cowboy Bebop: the movie. It was entertaining.

Animatrix: also entertaining.

Requiem for a dream: I liked the grandma.

Spirited Away: despite being targeted for a younger audience, it's a must-see for anyone. The storyline is incredible.

My neighbor Totoro: a classic that will make you go *awwwww*

Drawn together: a comedy network cartoon series. Because I never get tired of poop and sex jokes.

I also liked the Cube series. The concept is original.

I like the Eli Roth movies. Everybody hates them, but I like them. Maybe because I see where he's going. I liked cabin fever, and hostel wasn't as bad as they say, even though it wasn't his best. The bonus cd is a must-see (breakdancing 10 year-olds, awww). His movies are a certain type of cheesy, and it's the kind of cheese I enjoy.

Oh, and Memories by Katsuhiro Otomo was good too. I wasn't thrilled with the type of drawing in cannon fodder though.

Nah, I don't live in Edmonton. I'm just visting.
I don't know too much about the rave scene here, just the bar/club/afterhours scenes.
They have raves maybe once a month - I dunno the genres of music- but I think it's mostly trance, house, and apparently, Hardcore of sorts.
As for the afterhours, most of the people are fucking sketchy bastards. I always manage to meet cool people, but it's the crackers that ruin it for me. The music in the afters (there are only 2) is usually various types of house and trance. I've heard of some DnB, but I was told there wasn't much of a market for any other genres.
I don't want to sound jaded, but I get a really bad vide out of some people here, and most of the people I like turn out to be from out of town.

Oh yeah, and the only time I ever head goa was when these two guys drove by me in their car.

Aside from that, it's a really great town. Lots of jobs to go around, a lot of social programs, a lot of money and it's clean as a whistle.

There's also a pretty established art comunity. The largest fringe festival in North America is held here in Edmonton, and there's also a lot of music to be heard -mostly folk and (indy)rock.
---
As for the Movies: Go see the DaVinci code before you read the book... you'll enjoy them both a lot more, i'm sure. And Audrey Tautou was really good, too. I must say she's really pretty. Meow!1

Waking Life was extremely deep. So deep infact it's taking me awhile to come to a philosophical consensus of the film. They touch on so many diferent ideas -and go into great depth- that it's dificult to draw the connection holistically, even though it's obvious the premis of the plot is about dreams and waking life.

Anyways, there's just so much to talk about when it comes to this film... so i'll stop here.

But no, I never realized that the main character was the same guy from Dazed and Confused! Was it the little brother who got to make out with that older chick?

Hey Juju,
Thanks for the suggestions.

Cannon Fodder was amazing!! Mind you, it was the animation that did it for me.

If you liked that one, check out Steamboy. It's also made by Katsuhiro Otomo. The animation style isn't the same (more like The Wings of Honneamise), but they touch on similar subjects... mostly the technology.

"Inside Deep Throat."
Written and Directed by: Fenton Bailey & Randy Barbato (the ones who brought us Party Monster)

Tagline: It was filmed in 6 days for 25 thousand dollars. The government didn't want you to see it. It was banned in 23 states. It has grossed over 600 million dollars. And it is the most profitable film in motion picture history.

Now I haven't seen this movie yet, and I read about it awhile ago, so if you (Betty or anyone) gets a chance to rent or download it, tell what it's like.

awwww man ! this movie is awesome!!!!
one of the best documentary of the year !!!!
you will learn a lot about the actor and all the politik behind the movie! like did u know that one of the porn girl is the mother of tora birch u know the girl of monkey trouble and american beauty...well they have the same hum asset !
we also have a gold period of porn at my work...
and even if i'm not a huge fan of porn ...i don't know anybody who saw alot of porn like me...
because i worked in so much video, often we had to watch a bit of each for make sure they are still in good condition...well i saw some special thing...lol!
but the gold period is my fav because in that time you have a story during the movie and women and men were served....like in deep throat...who realy imagine a crazy story like this women who have a clit in her throat???hahaha!!! this is pure genius!!!maybe not for feminist but...
u have to see this documentary who answer the majority of my interogations !
but don't wait for a lot of sexy scene because it's not a porn...it's a serious doc about the question....

I figured it wasn't an actual porn... to bad though. ^^Especially if she's in it.^^
Haha, just playing.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of porn - and not just when i'm lonely. My friends and I back in Highschool used to rent all these porns and watch them together while we smoked joints and drank peachsnaps. We used to analyze fake orasms, who could last the longest before the director *edited* the scenes together to make it seem like the guy could last forever and also how silly some of the stories were. It gets pretty fun.

Since we're on topic.

Dream Quest(2000)
By: Wicked Pictures

Synopsis: A regular girl who has strangely been having proplems with the her sexual desire is called upon to save a mystical world filled with trolls, fairies, little goblins and Warlocks . After a long journey and meeting all these strange characters and having the ultimate sexual experiences of her life with them, she's captured by the evil Vladimir (played by Hershel Savage) who, as it turns out, has been holding fantasy hostage. It is Jenna's job to play him just right in order to get fantasy back in sex for the world.

This seriously is the greatest porn ever made. For anyone who has seen boogie nights, this would make Jack Horner (Burt Reynolds) proud. From the acting, the script, to the mis-en-scene... it is all amazing!

DreamQuest isn't your typical porn either -honest. Though there is sex (only 8-sex scenes), it isn't the raunchy nasty shit you'd get from Girls Gone Wild. This is sex with class -if there is such a thing. This isn't just for the pervs, this is for everyone (over 18 years old).

Oh, did anyone see Un dimanche de funerailles? It stars Audrey Tautou, and it has the same type of narration as in Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain. I really liked it. Audrey never deceives me.

Oh, also, "L'etranger Fou" is a must see. I always enjoy movies where the main character ends up in a foreign country with a totally different culture, and has no choice but to adapt and to learn the language.

I watched 3 movies today:

Metropolis: a japaneses anime about a girl robot. 7/10

L'auberge Espagnole. A cute movie. Europeans are so much more polite when it comes to resolving issues. Haha. Especially Germans.

Dancer in the Dark. I never thought about it, but man, Bjork is really weird. In the extras she kept telling how much she suffered while filming the movie because she was really absorbed into her character. Actually, all the actors in this movie were behaving strangely. I can't really describe it. Betty, let me know what you thought of this movie.

wow! excellent menu!!!! i think it's an art to prepare a good evening of movie!

i realy like it metropolis, the animation! i think it was original to adapted this german classic!
have u seen maybe the original expressionniste one? but if u want to rent it,be carefull because u can have on the market the original one of the 30' or in the 80 they had this idea to take the same movie and put like queen music on the soundtrak...and it's totaly bleeeh....

yeah! isn't cute! [ www...romain ] duris! if you liked this actor,he played in almost all the cedrik clapish movies!if u likes this director i suggest to u : un air de famille...realy funny comedy!it's a good adaptation of a play...
and also in doberman...the omly thing is i can stand the actrice sandrine bonnaire...i don't know why?i just don't like her!

dancer in the [ www...what ] a modern tragedie...realy special...i think sometime the dances was just terrible but...
yeah! i saw that than bjork was freak out during the filming...but i think it's just her who is like that in real life!
but i supose that if you are realy absorbe in this part you can realy easily be deepress! [ www.at ] the end i was crying like crazy when she get strangle...what a dramatic end!!! lars von trier is an excellent director...a puriste often...have u seen the fiew danish dogma & european movies? it's an excellent excersice! it's a bunch of creator who decide to go at the essentiel of what is realy cinema...they decide to make rule....like no musik...only filming a natural light...the result is realy interresting but all the movie almost make me realy unconfortable!! the best title are une fete de famille famille and the idiots....the last one is one of the most tordu movie that i ever saw...the story is a bunch of adult who decide to act like retard...funny but you will see...it was make me feel strange when they decide to all fuck and keep their retard behavior...ewwww! haha!
