What I meant by "unofficially" was: did they ask you to do the videos for them or did you do it on your own initiative?
Hey Crystal Method is still cool... and about the 6-hour video, that sounds really cool too. I'm sure it has been done before (somewhere), but still, it's not very often that you see great visuals or inovation in Montreal... so consider yourself a pioneer of sorts.

Are you gonna be playing the video on a dvd player or are you going to run it off a program on a computer? What I have seen before is people taking a bunch of 2-hour VHS tapes (or DvD's) with pre-edited footage, and then taking 4-VCR's and hooking them up to Audio/Video switcher and/or hooking that up to a Video Mixer and streming videos like that.
But Anyways... Congrats, I hope you have fun!

P.S: Can you recomend any books to read about Video Editing? I'm a real fucking noobie.

WARNING!
WORST MOVIE EVER!

"The best Thief in the world" (2004)
Directed/Written by: Jacob Kornbluth

When I first stumbled on this title, I thought to myself "well, this could be interesting." Allow me to say, it wasn't even close to stimulating. I think only one neuron was transmitted throughout my brain during the whole viewing of this movie. The characters are ridiculous -except the mother (Mary-Louise Parker), who acted well enough to actually make her character palatable. Eveyone else is useless. If you've seen this movie, can I ask what the fuck those 2-black kids were rapping about every other scene? If I could use one word to sum this movie up, it would be: RANDOM!!

The plot... okay, I assume it's about a kid who's pissed off that his dad is incapacitated from a stroke he had a few months ago, so he breaks into peoples homes while they're out to -get this- light fires in their living rooms while he meditates. He then puts them out, and goes home to his mom. His mom, on the other hand, actually plays a dramatic part. She's a school teacher strugling to control her son; support a half-comatose husband and keep a job that just cut off her insurance benefits. That's it.

The mis en scene is okay. The movie is set in New York, so it can't go wrong. The lighting and camera movements are nothing new -think, "Do the right thing" by Spike Lee.

There is a little room for analysis, but this movie is not something you want to watch while your with a bunch of friends. It's more appropriate to play this in hospital for insomniacs.

ooo ! i understand your question now!!!
it's not the promoteur of the whistle who asked me but lenny who run the hardcore room this year...
that's why all the dj have a link with industrial strength records...
it's nice because in the past it was la cosa nostra (rob gee...)who runned this room...i realy prefer i.s.r. ! anyway i don't know how i can did it if it's not with the invitation of the organisateur !!!
i think it's can be strange if i just show up like that with my stuff...

yeah ! crystal method is cool but i think i prefer the chemical brothers !

i know that in mtl exist realy good vj but what i saw most was always loop...
if you are not stone it's started to be boring after a while...but i remember a cool party ...i think it was in 2001, at the old theater on park avenue...the rialto...
i was on my bench, smoking my spliff..it was a fuck up remix of alice in wonderland...tk...realy cool...

it's gonna be a dvd linked to a projector...
i realy love to dance and have fun...so...once a hour i will just have to change the dvd for each set...
but one day i would like to do it live...
but the live concept just don't fit realy with my personality!!!

you r nice to encourage me! i hope i will have fun too!

for the editing...you know the best is taking a class...
you can have not too expensive one at uquam...
but anyway u can figure it all that by yourself with little patience...do u have a mac or pc???
the professional in the industry almost always use mac with final cut pro...but if u have a pc u can use adobe premiere...for started,i suggest u to use a simplish program(but realy fun and u can almost make the same shit!) like ulead version 10...
it's only 100$!
but if your objective is to do it seriously, like a job,it's realy final cut pro that u need...
in my mtl school that's what i used...in fact ...every where in the world i think they use that !
but now my husband use the mac for his music studio...so...i have no choice....je me suis convertis au pc...but eventualy when i will return soon to school i will have to find a solution !

Born in Atlanta, Lee moved with his family to Brooklyn when he was a small child. In Brooklyn he attended John Dewey High School. Lee enrolled at Morehouse College where he received his B.A. in Mass Communications and, in 1982, a Master of Fine Arts from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

At their best, Lee's films are penetrating and energetic portraits of people and places, interweaving psychology and context, time and place. Lee's movies have examined diverse and complex issues, ranging from race relations, the role of media in contemporary life, urban crime and poverty, and political issues. Many of his films include a distinctive use of music. Spike Lee's father, Bill Lee, is a jazz bassist and responsible for the music in some of Spike's films, including Mo' Better Blues starring Denzel Washington.

Lee's films have garnered considerable critical acclaim. Film critic Roger Ebert has described Spike Lee as one of the greatest filmmakers in America today. Lee's film Do the Right Thing was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1989. His documentary 4 Little Girls was nominated for the Best Feature Documentary Academy Award in 1997.

I agree that there are many great VJ's -but like you said, most their work is loop based, and it (also) isn't my personality. Loop based can be cool, if the loops aren't constantly... looping. But hey, it's hard to creat flash animations or constantly edit videos while keeping a full-time job, so you still have to give them credit.

Party at the rialto? 2001? Was it called Homeworld 2?

Because if it was, those visuals were fucking amazing and one of the main reasons why I want to do them myself!! I remember the VJ was doing loops of G.W.Bush's with a giant X being drawn across his face... but the thing that really blew me away was how he/she managed to mix all of these amazing animations while keeping all the movements on beat.
Fuck was it good!

P.S: Go check the moment factory website!! Not all live visuals are loop based. ;)

Sweeeet!!! Can't wait to see it.

RRRrrrr(2004)
Directed by: Alain Chabat

Many reviews will tell you that this film is A) Boring B) Asinine or C) Crap!. On the other side of the spectrum, many will also tell you that this is the funniest film ever made! And I agree with the latter. My friend Christoph first showed me this film last year, and I'll have to admit I had a smile on my face the whole way through.

If you enjoy French sarcasm and dialouges riddled with play-on-words, you will not disappointed. On the other hand, the films jokes can get pretty repatative and down right stupid. Let your taste decide.

This movie is really a 50/50. The screenplay is half-decent, the acting isn't anything special, even though the jokes are absolutely hilarious, the plot isn't anything we haven't seen before.

Featuring Maurice Barthélémy, Pierre-François Martin-Laval and Gérard Depardieu. It's worth checking out.
