united 93 ....i can't quote this movie.

ok...i'm kind of tromatized...
yesterday night,i went to theater...i was alone...(i like to see movie alone...in my own bubble!)
but after i regretted it! i chose this movie because i was very curious...i was realy sceptical about the motivation behind that...
like...hey mister producer, let's make some money and exploited a modern tragedie!

all the movie i was petrified in my seat. i was crying like a little girl !my emotion was melting... I WAS FUCKING SCARED!
ok...all the peeps who read this thread know how i am a huge fan of gore...amenez-en du sang pis des tripes : j'aime ca !
but i think the last time i felt like that was when i watched critters at 6 years old!

[ www...it ] was horible! even if like everybody knew in advance the end of the movie...any suspense for sure...
but all the people in the place seem to felt like me.(i know because one of my fav thing at theater is to look behind me the face of the people watching the movie!)

after that i was so deepress...and i take the plane often...now it's gonna be worse!
and since i leave in nyc i have paranoia all the time in the subway...it's not gonna help me for sure!at least i take my bike to go at university...

the filming is very camera a l'epaule and it's make u feel like if u were there...it's like a fiction but a lot sous forme of doc.
the scene or editing qui m'a le plus marquee is when u see a shot of the hijackers pray in arab and after a shot of the victims praying an other god!
and wow these people realy fight until the end...it's incredible.
and i tryed during the movie to forget my politik opinion about the subject for just let the place for the human drama...
it's work : i'm fucking sad.

La Haine... *drools* I fucking love that movie. But I never knew they made an english version, is it any good?

Scanner Darkly looks amazing! I remember Violence Inc. posted the trailer for it ages ago, and then I never heard about it again.
Trailer: [ www.apple.com ]

As for my movie suggestion:

KONTROLL (2003)
Directed by: Nimród Antal (his first film apparently)

Synopsis: "The massive labyrinthine netherworld that is the Budapest subway system provides the stunning setting for 'Kontroll,' a high-style, high-speed romantic thriller in which the lives of assorted outcasts, lovers, and dreamers intersect and collide. One handsome young hero, one mysterious maiden, and one particularly nasty killer must conduct a race against time, trains, and destiny itself in their frantic pursuit of one another." [ ]

This movie is so much fun! The mise en scène is very impressive, giving you a real sense of a dirty and grungy subway located in Budapest, Hungry. The subway is runned and occupied by very original and hilarious characters who play the incredibly tough rolls of subway ticket inspectors. The lighting and camera work is excellent -especially for a first time director (I can't seem to remember who the DoP is, but the end product looks amazing). "Kontroll" is obviously a foreign film, with english subtitles (warning: the translation IMO gets a B-), so one has to take the reality that film presents with a grain of salt -considering I, and probably most of you have never been to Hungry. I can't say for certain that the world the characters -literally- "run around in" is true. At the begining of the film, the Director of the Budapest Metro system gives a disclaimer stating that this film "does not represent the actual reality of the Budapest Metro lines nor does it represent the actual ticket inspectors who patrol them."

The plot itself begins in a very corky manner and slowly gets more and more serious as you acquaint yourself with the protagonist Bulcsú (Sándor Csányi). Even though the synopsis from IMDb says, well, what it says, the film is really a tale about the need to escape a dreadful underworld and to begin a new life -or return to an old one.

I won't go into too much detail, because really... this is something you need to experience first hand.

8/10**

If I could, I would work in a videostore in a second... it's just that minimum wage doesn't cut it in this town -well, not for me at least.

Since we're on the topic of our favourite film directors, allow me to introduce:

Michel Gondry.

This guy is a fucking genius! Maybe not as good-looking as your dream hubby, but my god does this man have talent.
He did the directing and conceptualization for music videos like:
"Human Nature" for Bjork, and "Everlong" for the Foo Fighters, "Around the World" and "The Music Sounds Better with you" for Daft Punk & Stardust and my personal favourite...

"Star Guitar" for the Chemical Brothers.
(Watch it here, if you haven't seen it.)

He, in my opinion is the king of in-camera-effects.

Oh, oh!!
He also directed Eternal Sunshine For A Spotless Mind!!
If you watch "the making of" on the DVD, you'll see all the lens, lighting and camera tricks he used to create all the "special effects". Make note, most the effects in that film WERE NOT made with computers but with sheer ingenuity and experience.

Check out his work here (you can also watch his videos through the links):

Did I mention he was the one who came up with the idea for Diet-Coke's ad campaign "Tingle and Bubble"?
... You know the one with the roller-skaters with the bubbles n' shit floating around them?

... Anyways, enough of my infatuation with this man.

I just went through this whole thread for the first time and, WOW, you've seen A LOT of movies (and good ones at that!!).
I also noticed that you want to make music videos to techno, which is a coincidence, because I want to do the same thing... to a degree (VJ'ing).

If you want some inspiration, check out these websites:
MinuteMoments: [ www.minutemoments.com ]
It's all 1-minute shorts. Some are just artsy-videos, some are visuals and some a music-videos over techno.
Check the first one: "Le Fil Rouge" and the second to last one: " promende à hong kong" by Yasuko Tadokoro.
I think you'll like them.

There's also: [ www.momentfactory.com ]
This company is based in Montreal (minutemoments is runned byt them) and they do all sorts of Visual Entertainment -mostly stage setup and visuals, but they also do Video-expressions (if that's a real term). Check the site and select "MOMENT" and enjoy.
I hope you like it.

Michel Gondry (born May 8, 1964) is a film, commercial, and music video director noted for his inventive visual style and manipulation of mise en scène.

Gondry was born in Versailles, France. His career as a filmmaker began with creating music videos for the French rock band Oui Oui, where he also served as a drummer. The style of his videos caught the attention of music artist Björk, who asked him to direct the video for her song "Human Behavior". The collaboration proved long-lasting, with Gondry directing a total of six music videos for Björk. Other artists who have collaborated with Gondry on more than one occasion include The White Stripes, The Chemical Brothers, and Kylie Minogue. Gondry has also created numerous television commercials; one of his most famous ones, for Levi's jeans, won the Lion D'or at the Cannes Film Festival. He pioneered the "bullet time" techniques used in The Matrix, notably in his "Like A Rolling Stone" video for the Rolling Stones and a 1998 commercial for Smirnoff vodka, as well as directing a trio of inventive holiday-themed commercials for The Gap.

Gondry is often cited, along with directors Spike Jonze and David Fincher, as representative of the influx of music video directors into feature film. Gondry made his feature film debut in 2001 with Human Nature, garnering mixed reviews. His second film, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (also his second collaboration with screenwriter Charlie Kaufman), was released in 2004 and received numerous rave reviews. Eternal Sunshine utilizes many of the image manipulation techniques that Gondry had experimented with in his music videos. Gondry won an Academy Award alongside Kaufman and Pierre Bismuth for the story of Eternal Sunshine.

His brother Olivier 'Twist' Gondry is also a television commercial and music video director creating videos for bands such as The Stills, Hot Hot Heat, The White Stripes and The Vines. [1]

Gondry was an Artist in Residence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006.

i'm not sure to understand what u mean by unofficially? it's gonna be on a big screen in the club...
it's not live...but i did in the taste of each dj...it's not a perssonal work...
but it's kind of crazy because i did'nt use any loop!! it's was fucking long making 6 hours!!
it's not for being pretentious but in ten years of clubbing and rave i never realy see that before!
it's also for make the promotion of the new video clip made by french people for head banger boogie from radium and lenny...
lenny wanted to use it for promotion on the i.s.r. web site...so maybe in fiew time u gonna be able to see that there...
i asked my husband to put it on line but he's kind of buzy...and i'm a crack of cinema and editing but i'm a complete teknology retard...in the next fiew week maybe it's gonna be possible..it's probably just going to be some extract of each hour because 6 hours it's realy to big...and if it's not possible,i don't mind to give u some copy one day...i'm sure we gonna cross each other in a party in mtl...not for a while because now i can't go outside the country...shitty immigration process !
i'm gonna post the flyer...in fiew minutes!
