Slipknot are amazing and their DJ is into some crazy sick mashup jungle/hardcore with scratching on the side with N2O recordings.

it's just their shitty youngsters attitude... and their mtv music ! they're able to make some good music but... with this slipknot band they only do money. they had nice bands before, with real music.

that's only my personal opinion obviously, but to me this is typically over-produced music... too commercial, nothing original, always the same numetal sound, always the same stereotypical music, everything is in the look and the attitude... and no more place for the music. that's just my opinion !

Always the same sound? The new (third) album has some Iron Maiden-style solos on it, and there's even an acoustic ballad. Totally nu-metal, obviously. Nothing screams "nu-metal" quite like solos and acoustic guitars.

You want to hear over-produced music? Listen to anything electronic.

:lol are you serious? Anything short of grime is so over-produced it's insane. On the DnB front, look at all you need to do to get a sick reece sound. Compression, changing the pitch of drums, chopping up breaks, adding any sort of effect, is processing. You compress your drums, you limit your master, you add some reverb to the high-end, all electronicaly. You filter the synths to get your leads, your bass, you EQ-out the naturaly occuring frequencies to make diffrent parts take up more/less room in a mix.

And then you can say that 9 guys (3 drummers, 2 guitars, 1 bass, 1 vocalist, 1 guy on samplers and 1 DJ scratching) doing all of their material LIVE, is over-produced? There's usually way more going on in anything electronic than in anything else.

Black Sabbath's first album took about 8 hours to record. Noisia (in their recent Q&A on DOA) said it takes them 3-5 months usually to finnish ONE track.

by over-produced i meant that it's too smoothed for instrumental music... and all numetal bands have the same sound.

moreover i wouldn't compare "electronic" and "instrumental" music... i really don't listen to them the same way

It's not because it's electronic that it's over-produced.
Probably that we don't have the same definition for "Over-Produced"

I wasn't aware that appreciation of music could be done more than one way. Electronic music is still made with instruments, just diffrent kinds. It still uses chords, structures, harmonics, time signatures, etc. to make melodies.

you should be aware that you can see the world the way you want, especially about arts such as music... it's working with emotions and feelings, which are widely a personal and informal thing. but yes, with cartesian explanations you can reduce anything to what you want.

i was just explaining myself and giving my opinion, like anybody on these threads ; and i wonder how you would know whether i have an idea of what i'm speaking or not... sorry about thinking differently than you, but you'll have to accept it, this is just life.

as for my english you're totally right, it's just school-learned english in france with no practice... but i guess i manage to be understood, ain't i ?

and i'm not hating anything nor anybody here (but not appreciating everything either !)
anyway have a nice show tonight if you like slipknot !
