I need to double check this, but my friend who is studying law told me that; Quebec gets finacial aids from Ottawa (Federal) as much as the sum of ALL other provinces put TOGETHER. It would suck real hard for Quebec to lose all that money. I guess we will just see more Casinos and Lotteries.

As for the US taking over, i don't think it will, it would create such an international debacle.

I don't think they would do so in any military fashion.. they'd take us over the same way they did Mexico.. by making us NEED them... then once we're in their pocket.. they'd have us by the balls.. I don't feeling like explaining the specifics of it... you catch my drift.

It's kinda funny, I hear this from american's a lot more than you'd think (americans from the northern states)

"Canada should take over the US, that's be amazing"..

I've heard that from so many New Yorkers it's kinda disturbing.

hey my little lawyers, can't you argue on something else? Why, except the fact that you are anglophones, don't you want Quebec to be a sovereign State?

Don't give me any "I think that's the law, if not, WTF"-answers, because it's not your "I think I know the law"-arguments that will stop the PQ from doing a refendum and people to vote for or against it.

i'm not arguing against quebecers' rights to secede from canada
i agree that they have the right.
all i'm saying is that i don't think they're going about it the right way and that they don't have the right attitude... what would change within quebec were it to separate... nothing.. the only difference i might see is stricter language laws? and how would that help anyone? it would make quebec more oppressive toward its own people

Seperatistes can be pretty stupid abotu the whole matter. If you want to get a province with a large english population to seperate, why would you make this into a language war?

I think the whole thing is pretty stupid.. I mean... what is the purpose of seperation anyways? The way things are going, francophones keep their distinct society, in fact, they make the rest of the country learn the language (officially anyways, not in practice of course, but you can speak french in any government facility in the country), their rights are protected... I don't think their culture and language is gonna DISAPPEAR, since its permanently entrenched into this province.. really now... why seperate?

I think it's about pride and I respect it's important to some people. To them it's like William Wallace fighting for the freedom of Scottland. I dunno why language has to come into it though.

But I mean.. Canada respects and respected the French people a shit ton more then England ever did to Scotland, so I think the Francaphones' are just being childish.

it has nothing to do with that. Jesus, why did japan ask for freedom from england even though ebngland had no influence left over them? hmmmmmm??????? hmmmmmmmmm?? why did many other countries do the same? Did it change anythign? NOOOOOO, but it still meant A LOT ot them, so what the fuck, people are so naive. Jesus.
