 Coolness: 92970 | I'm just going to leave my opinion out of this for fear of.. death, but about the education system in Quebec, things have changed a little. It used to be that the immigrants would end up mostly english, because it's an easier language to learn and there's people in every country who know it.. so the immigrants woudl mostly end up english speaking, as we can still see today. I'm talkign about asians and stuff. The school system allowed them to do this on one condition, which was to send their kids to a private school for 2 years. As of very recently, they are no longer allowed to do that. This means, eventually we SHOULD see a language shift in the asian population, eventually. The only way now, to go to english school, is if your parents went to english school. University is different. So give it a couple of generations. Don't go expecting people in Ontario to learn french when they have nowhere to use it. Same for people in bum-fuck nowhere Quebec. They have nowhere to learn and practice. They don't even have a use for it. If someone told me we have to learn how to speak mic-mac, I'd say fuck you, I don,t go hanging out on mic-mac reservations.

You don't need to speak all fucking languages to have a job, do import/export and having a rich government. Theses country are part of Europe, have small population and their own language and they are described as the best living quality countries, even if they had some serious economic difficulties years ago (ie: Finland). Having our own country doesn't mean to kick out everything that is not Québecois outside, doesn't mean to stop import/export, doesn't mean to stop speaking to our neighbors, doesn't mean to stop trading anything, doesn't mean to stop living, doesn't mean to speak only French, doesn't mean to stop broadcasting english TV/radio, ... So I don't understand your point, not at all. Sorry to tell you, but not being able to speak the same language absolutely does mean trade will decline. If there's two people out there who are willing to trade with you, but one of them doesn't speak your language.. they'll most probably go with the one that speaks their language.. it's just easier. Today when i went to see King Kong there was a pre-show announcement by some radio personality from CJAD, she did her spot in english, then some dumbass yelled out "Nous sont pas en Toronto!", she got really pissed and pretty much told him to fuck off. Personally my response would have been "Hey, dumbass, you're watching King Kong, an ENGLISH movie. Why the hell would they announce it in french if you're about to sit through 3 hours of english.. ?" No one forced him to come see an english movie.. instead he chose to come see it and bitch that it wasn't in his chosen language.. that's what you call a shitdisturber.. same if i went to chicoutimi and yelled out "why the fuck are these movies dubbed in french?!" |

Okay does it really matter if hes french ,portuguese,italian?Hes serving the samme ppls,wich leads to a big nothing....And for the guy at the movies... is it shocking to know that there aren't that many french people in the rest of canada? why would it be? there's like what, 340million people in the US and Canada.. of that.. what.. 7-8 million french? gosh, i can't possibly figure out why there would be no pockets of french people other than in quebec and nb.. ? Quebec can dream all it wants in it's little bubble, but the reality is it's part of north america, and untill it finds the technology to become an island and float away, it's going to have to deal with it. And as for Germany, yes, people speak English, I went there, it's possible to be serve in English in some restaurant, but almost ALL won't serve you in English, and almost all people of 35+ don't speak more than 12 words of English. And people who speak it speak it quite bad, English signs are almost non existant, so what I am saying is people here speak and understand English enough, and now, with English courses right in first grade, I think it's alright for a second language. I don't know what you are thinking, looks like you think that after a YES, everyone will stop speaking english and forget what English was.. it's like, again, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ARGUING ABOUT? |
