Hey! I am a fan of Dj Fishead, and i used to have a whole bunch of his older mix tapes that were in circulation in Winnipeg between 1996 and 1999. But I have lost them over time. Any chance anyone out there knows how and where to get them now? Please email me if you have an answer. Thanks muchly!

fishead -
"When I got started I was a teenager in Winnipeg with aspirations to get a job DJing in a club - with the pipe dream of someday getting on the radio. As I write this I've recently completed a commissioned mix for Brave New Waves (for the third year in a row), have a radio show (Control To Chaos, co-hosted by tobias van veen) that airs weekly in Barcelona and am freshly returned from playing in Belgium about a week ago. Along the way I witnessed, and played a small role in the birth of breakcore. I did split tapes with Venetian Snares, shared co-editor duties at Massive with Doormouse and travelled all over the place. To paraphrase Steve Albini - I had a blast, and I blasted a few myself. It's been a long time coming... but seriously, I think it's time to hang up the headphones. I've been at this for 15 years and had a good run, so I figure it's time to take a bow and bid my goodbyes." |

I see him round work- His mixes are always quite enjoyable..
he's got a [ rave.ca ] account, you could always try messaging him- i don't know how often he checks here but it's worth a shot if you havn't already asked him. |

there's a lot of things going on right now... for the most part though, it's about priorities... it's about knowing I've taken things about as far as they can go - and that I've always done them my way. Over the last couple of years I've really quit caring about the whole self-promotion grind - especially in light of the fact that sucking up to promoters seems to be a bigger deal now than it ever was before... and I've never seen any point in doing that.
I think I'll always keep some records around - and I'll probably always play them... but priorities change, life calls... and hell... I've been doing this for 15 years - that's a longer haul than most. |

btw - I've announced that I'm giving it up, but I haven't quite stopped yet... I'm playing at Saphir on Thursday (Control to Chaos tag team with tobias c. van Veen) and working on a few farewell dates... I'll probably continue with the radio show ( [ controltochaos.ca ] ) for at least a few months. |
