getting their cut is nice, but just like in the movie industry, when an actor gets paid millions of dollars to speak a few lines infront of a camera.. who ends up paying? the person buying the tickets to watch..

the players and the owners should be getting paid less and ticket prices should go down. that's how it SHOULD be (but wont ever happen)

yeah it won't happen, the Centre Bell is always full on hockey nights, so it won't change at all on our side!

i agree with all of you guys but the only reason why the players have crazy ass salary its because the owners make more money!!!

Who cares ? Whatever job you hold, you'll have someone higher than you making more money. I work at customer service and you don't see me telling clients off because my manager makes twice as much money as I do. Why ? Cause it's my goddam job and I knew this was a reality when I started working there.

Hockey players are mostly a bunch of morons who can't count to 100 ( yet know that 15 million bucks is clearly not enough ), yet earn more than the prime minister.

And " hockey being a dangerous sport " isn't gonna cut it for me to justify this salary. How about applying some fucking rules and restraints ? How about focusing on getting the puck in the net, not gaining speed, ramming 5 guys in the walls every 10 minutes and having 3 of them fall into a coma because of the blunt force trauma ?

Remember a time when hockey was hockey, not a bunch of whiny oversized football players / heavyweight boxers with skates and a poking stick ?

Nah, of course you don't...who does ?

Next thing you know, they'll be metal spikes all over hockey sticks and players will wear blades on their skates AND arms AND fists.

Anyone remember the downfall of the roman empire? Sports are just another way of distracting people from the REAL problems in the world while slipping in gatorade, ford and mcdonalds adds to try and make the rich get richer while the poor just become apathetic.

Sad part is I know a lot of guys who play hockey because of the love for it. THEY should be out there with their names on the scoreboard.

I guess part of the blame comes from the players agents who exponentially increase their salary as their protégé's value rises. Agents, like the fucking RIAA, pump the players heads full of hype and ideals that aren't based on reality.

Yet, the NHL and owners bends to them and agrees to insane demands so I guess the players are only partially to blame.

*takes a bow for the avatar*

Gonna have a DVD burner available to use for a short while in a few days, I've got the *WHOLE* Max Headroom TV show run in DivX. ;)

Anyone looking for the torrents of it should click here.

(no need to get down on your knees and thank me... Well... Except the chicks... ;))

I wish I remembered this show from when I was a kid. It's fucking amazing. THIS is some quality fucking entertainment that's completely a satire of the very thing it runs on, as well as having made some pretty scary predictions on technological evolution and the class seperation that we're only starting to really see and feel the effects of.

20 Minutes Into the Future was pretty damn accurate for a tag-line.

PLAYING sports is healthy, sitting in front of a TV dreaming with a beer belly is not ;) Massive power to the people that PLAY the sport because they love it and not because they want to make millions of dollars off of something that, for all rights, is just a fun hobby.

(Then again, so is spinning, where's my goddamn million! :lol)
