BANG June 10, 2005 (BANG) - Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' controversial relationship has sparked an internet campaign by angry fans who want to split the pair. [ FreeKatie.net ] is a site dedicated to "the movement to liberate Katie, a young, gifted actress held captive by forces we may never understand. Even one summer of captivity is too long for one so bright." The site was created by Sheila Cameron who was inspired to start the online campaign after watching Cruise - who began dating Holmes last month - profess his "love" for his new girlfriend on the 'Oprah Winfrey Show'. She said: "I just wanted to make a funny comment on a poorly handled media storm. No one can deny there is a feeling of unease about many of the couple's public appearances, and I'm happy to create a place where people can vent on the issue from whatever side they like." Sheila has also released a range of T-shirts, hats, stickers and coffee mugs bearing the message "Free Katie" to spread the campaign.
