I don't understand why you want them to suck on anything...

Too bad AMD CPUs are faster than Intel CPUs. This will continue the trend of macs lagging behind PCs.

Now if only Jobbs would get off his high horse, quit trying to push macs beyond the scope of their capabilities, and release OSX to the general x86 market. It would make him more money, it would be a true competitor to Microsoft, and we can finally have the OS equivalent of the AMD vs. Intel battle, which is just great for us consumers.

I doubt apple would move to AMD because they seem to value power usage/heat as much as they do speed.. The powerbooks, mac mini, and possibly the imac would benefit more from a future variant of the centrino than an amd...

Intel chips generally consume more power than AMDs (upwards of 30% more). I'm surprised AMD hasn't expanded into the laptop market yet. i could be mistaken, but the law suit between AMD and Intel I believe stems from Intel's monopolistic control over laptops, preventing AMD from entering the market

the pentium m has the best power/performance ratio for any x86 chip... AMDs mobile chips don't even come close...

the whole reason job's switched apple to intel was because they could get the chips for cheaper and at the same time keep up with the industry because IBM was lagging and didn't care cause apple wasn't making them enough money to warrant heavy investment in the PPC chip. Going with AMD would just make apple the underdog all over again. Intel was the right choice..

IBM probably doesn't even care since their chips are going to be used in all 3 upcomming consoles which combined will sell way way more than apple's computers.
