ya..thats DSL. It uses your phone line but you can still make calls and such.

I have cable, and my boyfriend had dsl, and he had a lot of problems with it. I know they tell you to disconnect everything for 5 minutes, then reconnect & reboot (what good that does beats the fuck out of me). Check in your settings to make sure you havent made any changes (i.e.: if you made changes so that you have to manually connect).

Check Sympatico's site where you are located to see if their server is down? Thats a possibility.

just unplug everything connected to your modem. the phone line, your usb or anything else that is connected to your computer. even the modem's power source.

my modem randomly does what yours seems to have done (altho i have cable) and i'll try everything to get it working (incl. re-installing), and it still wont work. i'll call them and they tell me "reconnect everything attached to your modem, there can be a static problem" (?)

anyway, i do it and it usually works.

no problem. i really have no idea if that will work (or how it does, but thats beyond me-). I've never heard of static in a modem before, but hey, if they told me to do it and it worked, then I guess I did something right.

If that dosent work just call Sympatico. I'm sure they'll be able to give you a lot better advice than I can. :P

ok but just remember to reconnect the modem and turn it on before you turn on your computer..
I, too, have sympatico highspeed and I remember once I turned on my computer before the modem and it didn't work

leaving it unplugged for 5 minutes discharges the capacitors in the internal circuits.
