Obese woman referred to zoo
A 29-stone New York woman says she was humiliated when she was told to go to a zoo for an MRI scan. Jennifer Walters is bed-ridden and cannot fit into a magnetic resonance imaging machine. She told the New York Post that a doctor said she should go instead to the Bronx Zoo. "It's humiliating. I was told if elephants and hippos need MRIs, they have the equipment at the Bronx Zoo. It was like I was an animal," she said. New York politicians recently called for an end to what they termed medical discrimination against obese people. The Bronx Zoo told the Post it gets about a dozen such calls a year but it doesn't have such facilities for its animals. |

Seriously. These people are trained to, like, talk to people about shit like vaginal infections and herpes and aids and shit.
When the doctor says "Listen, I hate to break it to you, but your as fat as most elephants", I think it's time to take notice of the issue. |

I would prolly be slightly sensitive to the doctor's comment to have me checked out in a zoo. It would prolly make me feel that much better if I did not have to go to the zoo and could just go get mri at regular hospital. But as long as I wouldn't have to pay extra for an animal mri, who cares?!
Bah, they should contruct an mri scan for even the largest human animal and charge everyone taxes or have it only available at a private clinic and charge big bucks for it. |

Please She's the one who just embarassed herself. FATTY! |

Please She's the one who just embarassed herself. FATTY! She's to blame for her fatness?! You probbaly don't see how that a very similar argument could fuck you over. You might not be so bull-headed if you were as overweight as her and told to take yourself over to the zoo. But I guess you would never become that overweight because it is neither in your genetics or something you would allow to get out of control. The obseesion with thinness in our society and others like it makes me sick. It wuld and could be much more respectable, if people were concerned with thinness as a sign that they were not overeating and that everyone on planet earth did not lack any food. Thinness then would be respectable. People these days get thin to look good, to fit into an image thathas been branded on society and glorified. Anyways, I think they should look into getting a bigger mri -- why not?! I don't think it's all that big of a deal to go to the zoo. But after years and years of insulting comments (fat cow) and looks which I imagine this woman recieved, she is told to go to the zoo. I could see how this could be painful. |

Well look,
I'm not a bull-headed moron who will just point and laugh or scoff at any person who is "over-weight" or just plain massive. If it's a question of genetics. Fine, we're assholes. If it's her "typical american" life-style. Then "Haha that Fat fucker, she just emabrassed yourself infront of her whole country." As mean as that sounds. It's the fucking truth. If the woman ate to many donuts, and was equated with an Elephant or Hippo, and was recomended to goto the Zoo to use their MRI's, she can't hold it against the Docotor for saying that. Obessity is an OBVIOUS problem in the US. Is ALL their Genetics to blame? We aren't talking about the obsession with Thiness here. We're talking about a person who is BED-RIDDEN, and needs to goto the Zoo to use its equipment (that it apparently doesn't even have). I can see the angle on your position on this issue. I want to let you know we aren't attacking those who are over-weight, were just having a good laugh at an "Extremly Over-weight" person who needs to use equipment designed for Elephants. |

fat people are absolutely to blame for their weight, i REFUSE to believe that anyone can say "it's not my fault i weigh 500lbs..!"
Fuck those fat slobs, self control is all it takes, that's like me killing a bunch of kids and saying "shit, it wasn't my fault, my father was a serial killer, it's in my blood, I COULDN'T HELP IT!". stop fucking eating so damn much and do some goddamn excerise and maybe you wont be such a damn blob. |

Seriously, anyone who weighs that much either has a medical condition or is just a lazy fatass that doesn't care about themselves. I used to weigh 290lbs, I'm down to like 135 now. My weight gain was caused by false hungers from medication, and I still managed to lose it all myself.
The only memorable line that ever came out of a star wars movie is DO OR DO NOT, THERE IS NO TRY. If you WANT to lose weight, you DO it, end of story. |

Mico, I agree that she shouldn't blame the doctor for suggesting that she should go to the zoo. I think if that comment bothered she ought to confront the doc about it. But the issue in it for me, is that they could build equipment large enough to accomadate willy. This is not a cause that I would die for. But it's ajust a matter of principle.
And what you might want to remember is that I like arguing, having discussions on things. But whatever, atleast she can get an mri! |

who cares, her fatass will be dead in a few years anyway, ever meet a 250lbs+ women who was 50years old? didn't think so. |
