It’s that time again, time to get off your ass and pick up all that shit you’ve been sleepin’ on! We’ve got a shitload of new titles in the store and I can’t go on another day without letting you wonderful people know what you’re missing.

[DRUM & BASS]

Break – Ruff n’ Tumble/How It Should Be on Invaderz.
The genius broadens his sights once again, dropping another hit, this time for the Invaderz crew. ‘Ruff’ keeps it on the tech side of things while the flip brings forward the more chilled out melodic flavours. Another quality release from Break showing his knack for making records with 2 sides that you can actually play.

Nu:Tone – 3 Bags Full/Strange Encounter on Hospital.
As promised, the sampler for Nu:Tone’s forthcoming album is here, and deliver it does. ‘3 Bags’ is that perfect blend between soulful and funky, without getting too cheesy this tune uses tightly edited samples and a rising melody that makes me want to dance in bedroom. Have you ever seen me dance? I don’t do it often people! ‘Strange Encounter’ takes a step back from the dancefloor but still manages to light the fire, featuring r&b style vocals from Natalie Williams.

Future Prophecies – Elektra/Eastern Organic on Soundtrax.
While this label is still young, its has already proven itself with hot singles featuring Blame, Big Bud and Klute. Now the mighty Future Prophecies have come to town and they mean business. While not as insanely heavy as some of their better-known works, ‘Elektra’ still manages to impress, but its ‘Eastern Organic’ however that really lights my fire. Coming in on a deeper tip, it’s very reminiscent of TeeBee’s earlier productions, mimicking even Photek’s minimal mastery of days gone by.

Noisia + Pacific – On Your Mind/Crippled on Soundtrax.
Dude. It’s like the lords of neurofunk came together and fucked….underwater. ‘On Your Mind’ is some of the best work to date from both these crews. While ‘Crippled’ showcases the talents of Pacific alone. Two hits for Soundtrax in one week? Boh!

Optiv + Gridlok – Panache/Hive + Gridlok – Awakening on Project 51.
I honestly don’t know how this record is still in the store. Not since ‘Heatwave’ has Gridlok produced anything this good, and this records has 2 SIDES of it. Cause 4 Concern’s Optiv joins in on ‘Panache’ which is like ohmygosh and all that, but then flip it over and what do you get? Hive taking his turn! L.A. massive represent on this one!

Baron + Fresh – Super Nature/The Shakedown on Breakbeat Kaos.
“Corey, I need some BIG choons man, I mean REALLY BIG, BIG ROOM, FUCKING BIG.” Stop your bitching now please. Super Nature is like Roni Size’s ‘Snapshot’ remixed into the phattest crowd stomper ever, by 2 of the scene’s top players. The only thing that might top this record’s “bigness” is the NEXT single on BBK coming this week….from Distorted Minds. Don’t forget the picture-disc version of this twelve, which includes a different b-side: Fahrenheit.

Marcus Intalex + D.Kay – Transition/Ill.skillz – The Beat on Ill.skillz.
This has to be one of my favorite records right now. It’s like when Reese conceived the whole chocolate and peanut butter thing, Marcus Intalex and D.Kay simply go together. Needless to say, ‘Transition’ is the bomb, and it is my dream to play it on a large sound system for a large crowd of people, so that all may bask in its glory. ‘The Beat’ is Ill.skillz at their best, heavy on the drumwork, and just a little bit trancey, without going off the deep end. Buy on sight.

Future Prophecies – Thunder & Lightning/Deceived on Under Construction.
When DOA boss DJ Fresh decides to pick up a couple of your tunes, that’s a good thing. But when he decides to start a whole new label and use your tracks to launch it? That’s a REALLY good thing. Big props to the professors of prophecy on some of their biggest material to date….but ‘Dreadlock’ still rules.

Probe + Sylo – Drums Like This/Rhythmic Culture on TOV.
How could I write my reviews without mentioning Jase’s favorite tune? Guy plays this record so much he’s gonna need a 2nd copy. If you don’t like it, that’s ok, Jase is giving ‘Rhythmic Culture’ more than enough love for all of us.

DJ Fresh – Cactus Funk on Human Imprint.
It may be a little late, but Dieselboy does us the favour of releasing 2002’s ‘Cactus Funk’ on limited edition one-sided vinyl. Add to that the fact that it’s domestic (no crazy import prices), and you’ve got yourself a hot funky unreleased jam from Mr. Bad Company himself.

DJ Deval – Drop Kick/Jah Creationz on Reformed.
I’m simply going to assume that you haven’t listened to this one yet, because ‘Jah Creations’ is the sleeper hit of this month. An unassuming intro drops into a wicked vocal, followed by a massive tweaked out bassline. This being a Formation sub-label, it’s no surprise that the clown-step name gets thrown around, but this record still manages to kick it up a notch. Solid.

Marky & XRS – A Mosca/Striptease on Bingo.
This record has already sold out, but luckily I saw it coming and have plenty more copies on the way, arriving Thursday. ‘A Mosca’ has to be one of the best tunes from this brazilian crew since ‘LK’. Sharp, slamming drums stutter their way to the breakdown and in comes a funky guitar riff building up all the way to the drop, and then….BASS. There’s even a 3rd drop with some extra bits thrown in to make this a track that will not be leaving my bag anytime soon.

London’s Most Wanted feat. Ray Keith – Rasta Love EP on Chronic.
Ray Keith takes us on a trip down memory lane, with rich ragga vocals and his trademark drum kits. The standout tune here will obviously be Ray’s remake of the classic ‘Under Mi Sensi’. Overall a well-timed double-pack of dub-step jungle, from a name you can trust: Chronic.

Potential Bad Boy – Warn Ya (Ebony Dubsters Remix) on Ganja.
This one has been flying off shelves worldwide and Montreal is no exception, only a few copies left of this limited edition one-sided smasher. Shy FX & T Power grab hold of PBB’s classic ‘Warning’ tune from Ibiza Records, and update it into another ‘Muderation’. Absolutely devastating.

Fugees – Ready Or Not (Ganja Kru 2004 Remix) on White.
Back in once again, if you don’t own this, you simply can’t call yourself a junglist. Hype and company join forces to re-re-mix the Fugees classic. This time you get cleaner drums, heavier bass, and an even sicker breakdown. Also included on the flip is the original bootleg remix from years ago, the one that started it all.

Marvelous Cain – Dub Plate Style/Roll Dat Shit on RIQ.
The Hitman digs into the vaults to bring you some of his classic IQ jungle. Remastered for your mixing pleasure this twelve brings back a lot of memories, if you missed it the first time ‘round, I highly suggest checking it out, because you might not get another chance.

So come and get it!

And by the way, I don't personally make any money through this..it's not a comission kinda job. I just want people to know what's available. I'd gladly put up lists of techno and breaks and house and booty and electro and hip hop, but I simply don't have the time. I'm the d&b guy, so that's what I focus on.
