Hey people, I'm getting into the flyer business a bit, designing and conceptualizing some upcoming parties flyers as well some other things..

I have a few questions, since I'm not convinced that the current most used format is the best or attractive alternative. I'm of a mind that if it doesent fit into my pocket, I won't take it. But thats me. I wanna take 6 for giving to friends.

Which leads me to a few questions I'd like to poll you all on:

1. What dimensions of paper do you prefer:
a) Business Card
b) Single Folded Business card (twice size of 1)
c) Double Folded Business card (thrice size of 1)
d) Poster Card (thats the one youre used to)
e) Banner/Bookmarker Card
f) Cutout/Abnormal Shaped/Kaleidescopic keepsake card..

2. Do you like flyers to have an area available for you to write things on? Specifically one which will accept both pencil or pen lines easily?

3. Do you like them to be double sided? Info on both sides? Should the info on the backside be more important than the info on the frontside, or vice versa? Should the info be doubled up, contained on both sides?

4. Point out the ones you like and give more info if you like:

--PAPERS--
Glossy (laminated feel)
Textured (graininess to paper)
Mute (non reflective)
Metal Foiled (metal inking to catch light)
Perforated (a flyer=6 pop-off miniflyers -eg)
Clear Tinted Plastics
A combo of two of the above?

--INFORMATION--
Divided into a cover and a details (front/back)
Predominent Date/Ticket Locations/Info line
Predominent Artists/Music Genres
Generalized venue area info in advance
Deco/UV details
Doubling up of info (front to back)
Info on how the event is different than others..

--IMAGERY--
Girls/Guys from the scene
Abstract Psychedelics
Landscapes/Seascapes/Spacescapes
Vibe Suggestive Objects
Musical/Dance/Motion imagery
other?

--OTHERs--
Should the door fee be announced on the flyer?

--OPTIONAL--
How important is multi-dated ticket purchasing prices?

What has been your favorite venue?(location)

Who are youre #1 favorite DJ's in each of your favorite music genres?

Who is your favorite VJ?

Keep it simple!! Minimal. Easily readable. Infos (dj's/tickets price, etc) easy to spot.

I like ''stereo's'' flyers and the ones from circus. Seb is right, keep it simple, but add some funky fresh style!

considering most people don't give a damn about the paperweight, dimensions or length of time it took you to make your flyer - and most of the time it'll end up in the gutter anyway - how about you save a few trees and spam through email instead.

Nice thought,
but promoters are more concerned with getting people to the party then rainforests.
Paper flyer's aren't going anywhere soon, they're cheap, work well and add to the overall flavour of your party.
They work in conjunction with the spam which everyone sends anyway.

90%'s flyers are made with wax paper (non-recyclable) and most of 'em just fly here and there on ste-cath street and not a lot of people pay attention to flyers and it's looking like none gives a fuck about our planet neither.

the point: flyer should be made with recycled paper.
