Yeah, IDJs are much better! No shirtless ginos, 12 year olds on 7 E with 4 glowsticks in each hand, and I much prefer the smell of the ganja in the air than a room that smells like a giant bottle of Vicks :lol

Now I wonder why that is that rave coverage is usually accompanied by paranoia. I've heard some rave-paranoia stories before.

If you break down the scene, I can see elements which can or ought to be of concern such as the loud, defeaning music and designer drugs.
But the world we live in outside of the rave is just as deafening over time. There's so much noise in the world. Noise!
And designer drugs, you can get those at the pharmacy basically.
People that are paranoid of raves specifically and not the state of our world are logically unsound or missing the boat. you know.

That's just my opinion.

But back to the topic. I think the issue that you or/and someone else brought up is that the rave scene presumably is better left in the shadows. Because when it is brought into the light, people start freakin' about it.

But I think people freak about it because they don't know about it. They hear about it and do not understand it. The fact that it is underground makes people feel they cannot control it.

Who cares if some people do not show love to the scene? I wish people would appreciate trance music for its merits. But some people think it is just noise.

The truth is, I think, that music plays a huge role in people's lives, sometimes, too much even. And I say too much because there are more important things than music. But sometimes, we act as if it's the only thing worth living for.

But the important thing is not to shrug our shoulders or ignore this pressing phenomenon of people who feel almost compelled, even, to listen to music.

I think the rave scene represents a much larger problem, which society could understand if they looked as deep as its participants do at times.

It's goal would not need to be to inform outsiders. It would be just give a certain edge to the scene. I mean dancing and playing music for a "good cause". It's focus would be more on the dancing.

I was looking up dance/dancing and rave, trance, techno on the web and there was hardly any media on rave/techno/house/trance dancing. I think the dance scene vis a vis rave music is incredible and I think there ought to be more focus on it.

Hard trance is one of my favorites and the music as a music to dance to can be great for dancers who appreciate coordination among other things.
I think rave music is underated in the dance community.

Well said. Although all things that want to remain "underground" eventually become huge, the only thing WE can do is change the outcome of the circumstances.

yes but nevertheless, we, as partisans in the scene, dont necessarily have to catalyse this phenomenon thru inviting media coverage by non-believing idiots.....

good point because it's the non-believeing idiots, I imagine, putting a negative spin on raves.

i don't really understand what do you really want to do with a "rave dance-a-thon".

The only historical example i can think of is "break dancing". The mass media associated break dancing with street life and poverty class.

Then one day, somehow, some people organised a break routine to be play in a theather to an upper class audience. The president of the U.S., Ronald Reagan, was there. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing i ever saw. It's in a break dancing movie.

Anyway, what is it exactly do you want to achieved? present it in a point form like you were presenting a project to a boardroom meeting. Do you want ravers dancing sober to hhc/freeform (trance) in front of the media and politicians?

dont get me wrong, i'm not saying that having a "rave" to raise money for a good cause is a bad idea. i think it's a great idea, i just dont see the benefit of media coverage, so to speak...

Okay, well, I guess everyone is getting the wrong impression from Cinderella Soul, a rave type dance comp. sounds awesome, I dance a style called liquid which is seen in almost every rave in the little corners. I would enjoy meeting other dancers who enjoy electronic music as well. If this event ever happens sign me up!!! I'll even aid with promotion if its needed!

Get back to me Cinderella, I know a hand full of dancers that would love the idea as well!

It's okay that you didn't want or have an explanation. I think I sense a tinge of sarcasm from you or something, I could be wrong. I do care about what you think to a certain point.

But don't you love it when people try to discourage you? I'm not saying you discouraged me or that you tried to. Don't you love it when....

Well, I'm not even the one who brought the coverage thing first of all. Second of all, coverage could be a good thing. Dancing is an art and alot of people practice their hearts out. They seriously enjoy dancing.

My thing is that there's such a large focus in the rave scene on the dj's, promoters, etc.
But not the dancing or the dancers.

I think there is alot of hard working and passionate dancing souls out there who deserve to be able to show what they have learned.

People are always scared of "new" things.

I'm tired. Just got back from "put your tracks on" @ le chill. SOOOOOOO tired. have not slept. got to work... :)

I think you may have been the first person in reference to this question on this board who understood what I was saying and felt a similar vision.

I can dance liquid sometimes. I think I do it more than I realize. I think a "rave type dance competition" is an amazing idea and I'm glad you share that vibe.

Thank you for your support and encouragement, wether it was intended or not. I liked your comment and I will surely keep you in mind.

I need to flesh out a few things, details. I have place where it could be held.

I am interested in meeting other dancers too. Dancing is one of my preffered arts to express myself in.
Please give me your email. I would like that alot.
