thing about actors is they usually get paid a certain flat fee, sometimes theyll get % of profits or whatever, but not 65% of all profits as is the case in the nhl right now

its the poorest sport but the one with highest average player salary! all the other leagues have caps but the owners find ways around that (ie. shaquille oneal 25million per yr orwhatever)

the reason ppl should care is cuz we still have some canadian teams (and we invented the sport etc)
anyways, sad shittyass situation

the players did their parts
the owners are being impossible
the players SUGGESTED a 24% pay cut! that's not nothing
the owners are just being stupid

you assume i know nothing.
i know:
a) hockey players are paid way too much
b) having a salary cap on each team would make the game fair for *all* teams.
c) i could care less who ends up with all the money, if in the end it ends up being a 'fair game'.

no
the owners are unwilling to negotiate
the players made a HUGE step..
the owners are just being pig-headed and stubborn
(much like you will be in replying to this post)
i agree the players are paid too much
but a salary cap, suddenly like that will NEVER be agreed to...
and about a salary cap on each team... yeah... thats the owners who disagree with that... not the players

dude
can u also read my post
the players are still the bastards
because as i said, its the league with the lowest revenues and the highest player average salaries
not only that, but the 24% was a complete PR scam!!!
the 24% involved a 70 game season, which in reality makes it about a 14-16% cut, ok good move forward i ll give u that... but lets not forget: 1/3 of the players dont have a contract after this season (hence the reason the owners are so adament about getting rid of this season)
anyways, yeah theyre all greedy bastards, but the players position that they deserve to make 65% of profits is ridiculous (along with most of their arguments)if i owned something, i wouldnt give most of the profits to my employees thats just illogical
