Why Does My Laptop Get So Hot Lately?

| My laptop (an Acer) is made to run on Windows XP but I prefer 2k pro and recently made the change. Around the same time i'm noticing it's getting really hot, much quicker than before. Is there some sort of fan control implemented in XP that is not active in 2k?
Or is there something wrong with my laptop? :dunno: |

| Paul: On many laptops fan speed and what not is controlled by the power-saving software.. It's possible in win2k it does not activate the fan as much...
I know on my toshiba I can set when to make it activate the fan or throttle the cpu speed down depening on how much power/battery life I want. |
