| If you're a professional WHATEVER, you don't use a hotmail account as your primary business email. Not if you're serious. No exceptions. Period. |
|

| if you say so. |

| I don't make the rules. But if you don't follow the rules, you lose professional credibility! It's such a catty work climate. |
|
Coolness: 55980
| But nobody should fault you if you have a webmail address on your resume or CV. That's fair game. |

| well it only costs 10$ to reg a domain and you dont have to have a server, you can set up mail aliases to hotmail, gmail, yahoo or anything your heart desires |

| beh, if anyone counts me as unprofessional cause of my email address.. i don't want to work for such a shallow person.
judging someone based on something like a name versus experience or skill is retarded. |

| it's the way of the world, man. you can't control how other people think... |
|
Coolness: 340355
| no, but i don't have to work for anyone like that. |
|
Coolness: 56190
| hehe, unlike you, i don't have the luxury of deciding who i should work for or not. my lifestyle has very specific needs :( |

| Amen. I suppose it all reflects how serious or ambitious you are. A person who has a domain secured appears to have committed more to their business. Anyone can have a hotmail or gmail.
I mean, if you're a student, or applying for a job, their totally fine. But if you have your own business, why wouldn't you have your own domain?
Your business card is extremely important. People don't take you seriously without one. |
|
Coolness: 340355
| I can tell you right now, i'm very ambitious. |
|
Coolness: 56190
| then why don't you use an email address at your domain? |
|
Coolness: 340355
| cause i like my gmail account..
if i wanted to i'd use one of my 5 domains.. but why?
i wont be keeping any of them indefenitly..
my gmail account will be around for decades.. i mean look how long hotmail's been around, i had that account for about 6 years before finally switching..
the longer you have an email address, the easier it is for people to find you. |

Coolness: 56190
