If you're a professional WHATEVER, you don't use a hotmail account as your primary business email. Not if you're serious. No exceptions. Period.

I don't make the rules. But if you don't follow the rules, you lose professional credibility! It's such a catty work climate.

But nobody should fault you if you have a webmail address on your resume or CV. That's fair game.

well it only costs 10$ to reg a domain and you dont have to have a server, you can set up mail aliases to hotmail, gmail, yahoo or anything your heart desires

beh, if anyone counts me as unprofessional cause of my email address.. i don't want to work for such a shallow person.

judging someone based on something like a name versus experience or skill is retarded.

Amen. I suppose it all reflects how serious or ambitious you are. A person who has a domain secured appears to have committed more to their business. Anyone can have a hotmail or gmail.
I mean, if you're a student, or applying for a job, their totally fine. But if you have your own business, why wouldn't you have your own domain?
Your business card is extremely important. People don't take you seriously without one.

cause i like my gmail account..

if i wanted to i'd use one of my 5 domains.. but why?
i wont be keeping any of them indefenitly..

my gmail account will be around for decades.. i mean look how long hotmail's been around, i had that account for about 6 years before finally switching..

the longer you have an email address, the easier it is for people to find you.
