so i'm watching the news and i see that bike couriers are trying to form a union (fight the power Purple Lee! I'm rooting for you guys) and i thought of this.

Montreal is the call center capital, so why aren't CSRs (customer service reps) unionized? I bet that at least one of you work in a call center...so what do ya think? Yay or nay?

i'm not talking about fly by night companies....i mean if you work for larger, legal companies.

I work at an inbound call center, we're one of the(if not THE) worlds biggest transfer agents for stocks and bonds. I have friends that work for companies like Bell. These are definitely "real jobs". Salary and benefits are pretty good but we get burnt out due to it being non-stop and pretty stressful...if i fuck up, i could cost someone tons of cash (think 6 digits+).

But there are unionized workers who sweep and empty garbage cans who make more than me, which i don't understand.

I completely agree. I worked for Starchoice as a CSR. You get walked all over at jobs like that but they pay you so well just to keep u silent. Being a CSR is a very underestimated job- sometimes its incredible stressful, and it tests your patience levels regularly.
