This thread needs more fail police to keep retardo in check.

As for poker games, I'm in if you play during the week, possibly on sundays, dunno if my brain can handle a poker face and getting good reads after a 12 hour night shift but I wouldnt mind giving it a shot.

I personally play NLHE and cant stand buy-ins... Too many noobs with money use it as a cruitch and go way too agressive on hands with very low percentage of winning just to see if they get lucky.
I'm feeling <( ^_^ )> right now..

Poker is gambling. Anyone who says otherwise is clearly in denial. You might be able to use skill bet and fold when you should, but there's no such thing as flopping skills. The cards you get dictate how much money you're going to make or lose.

Tell me it's skill when you get quad aces and someone has a straight flush (happened at the WSOP 2008).

Vince, I was joking, I already play way too much poker on a weekly basis.
I'm feeling pompous right now..

... have you ever heard of probabilities? google it :P
how do you think someone spot the cheating on Ultimate bet recently???

with statistical analysis someone figured out it was a total improbability ... hence there is a certain stability relied on certain type of play !

how can you explain the same people win the WSOP each year + a few new lucky chaps?

the key here is longterm expectation :)

but then again believe what you want!

I still think "There is no such thing as flopping skills" is a very accurate statement. But hey, the way HLHE works is not how much you win, but how little you lose and that is all skill.à

But Olee, it still is gambling, you can try and rationalize it any way you want, it is what it is.

WTF are you talking about? Every pro out there says the same thing: "A pro will never win the WSOP again". Dude, you're lecturing me about poker when I play a shitload more poker than you. Poker is gambling, period.

Pokers not always gambling. Imagine ur playing strip poker with 2 or more really sexy ladies. THen its not so much gambling. Its an investment of time, that will pay off either as 3+some, or some very nice girl on girl action. Because no matter who loses, you always win
I'm feeling disenchanted (=x_x=) right now..

yeah youre right like :
Phil Hellmuth (11 wsop bracelet)
Johnny Chan (10 wsop bracelet)
Doyle Brunson (10 wsop bracelet)
Erik Seidel (8 wsop bracelet)

those are the top winners but still theres people that have more than one !

seriously you guys never heard of statistical probability ?

Poker is a situational game bind with probability and aggressivity ! its the perfect representation of our monetary system(watch Zeitgeist). What im saying is YES there is a random factor but being good at poker is also the ability to work around the fact that you cant control the flop ...BUT you can control your actions and change the outcomes of a situation with betting manipulation and hand selection!

if anyone's wanna play on Full Tilt just pm me ill meet you online :)

peace and keep arguing i still dont understand your point

ps: this board is on tilt

A WSOP Bracelet is NOT a WSOP main event tournament winner. Those are two very different things.

As for the argument, it IS gambling, but it can be a calculated risk.

Je pense que t'as rien compris... Poker is a game of skill, there is luck involved, but if you are a regular Gus Hansen and play 4-9 offsuit as if it were cowboys then luck doesnt matter... if you get called on such a bluff then your LUCK just ran out.

It is a game of skill and probabillity, but never underestimate lady luck.

Live in denial all you want it IS gambling.

Erm, do I really need to link a definition of the word gambling?

Dude, some games have crap odds, some games have variable odds which are dependant on skill, NLHE is such a game. If you could have enough skill to win 100% of the time then fine ti wouldnt be gambling, not one pro has a chance of even 50% of winning... Why? Shit hands, noobs at the table who make very bad decisions and cripple you on the turn or the river, a clash of two big hands that goes left and right until the river, those quad 2s are a good example.

DENIAL dude D-E-N-I-A-L.

So here we go definition of gambling, let me know when you get out of denial.

"gambling - the act of playing for stakes in the hope of winning (including the payment of a price for a chance to win a prize)"

Dude,

Can you prove that you will win 100% of games?
No, you cant.

Are you paying to play?
Yes you are.

Is there a chance you will lose the money you invested?
Yes there is, in fact if all players have equal skill then your chances of winning are 1/n (n = number of players)

Any pro will tell you that it still is gambling. Any pro will admit that their chances of winning the title at any given tournament is under 5% if not less. Get with the program, you are talking like an addict living in denial who KNOWS he's gonna win... yeah, right.
I'm feeling <( ^_^ )> right now..
