So I guess then that you'd be cool with a band stealing their guitars/mic/bass/drums, and then only paying for them once they've made money off their album?

That's not how it works, you know, and you making money off software you didn't purchase (no matter how little it is) is just as 'wrong' as people playing out and making money from tunes they didn't buy.

audio quality of a cd, is less than a vinyl, but its undeyable how good quality some cds are.

there is not pob downloading mp3 THEIR QUALITY IS SHIT

you download .ISO thats an other story !

Yeah for mixing I would only want lossless files... But honestly most venues have such shit systems that 192k mp3 would sound alright.
I'm feeling gangsta right now..

yes it is as wrong, but you have to compare things to get really an idea how much producing is different from mixing

example : a dj mixes cds, he bought his tracks 1.50 each approx. hes been paied 50 $ aprox per gig,
1 gig = 33 tracks he can buy

in 2007 i made 9$ out of sales, i had to pay computer, monitors, midi keyboard, audio card, DAW, vst's, and mastering. which can go up to 10 000 easily if you pay everything.

a dj in 1 gig pays more of what he need for that said gig, at 9 bucks a year, it would take me 1111.11 years just to get into my money.

of course, 2007 was a small year, the first year i start selling stuff. but the more money i make, the more stuff i buy.

which comes back to, if you intend to play publicly, buy them tracks, if you wanna play in your bedroom, download them.

the next holographic disks will phase all these standards out, analog cant be unless there are action taken against. you can always export cds to dvd 8gb in audio to save space on the shelves,
damage these and keep your originals safe.

im not bashing you i just think it makes no sence encouraging greedy fat fuck that will profiteer on you you. i seekalternatives, found rare groups of people that found a legal and moral way to fix this issue. use their stuff and encourage them with how you can, actually my solution is the only thing you should be doing because what you are doing is against the established standard. youi should actually buy BEFORE , and pay the samples BEFORE even touching them.

i had this conversation on some board about creative commons, now nin are using them, and to me its
the best thing that ever happened to music, it prevent people in a hundred years , some totally irrenlevent folks not event blood lineage of yours to make money ON YOUR STUFF and call copyright on it.

ie: beethoven , chakovsky, mozart etc.. cds,

yes you should pay for music, IF THER IS A COPYRIGHT PROTECTION ONE THE FORMAT. the moral answer is void when people twist this law and makes rentals , and declared THEY PAYED for it.

meanwhile your stuck with laws and you have this guy calling the laws his way for a few buks.

do you know that you put a mike in fron of a speaker and record it, and that version is yours. LEGALY

so tell me do you think these capitalistic laws lack serious digital age update. open your eyes, eveyone wants to rotate audio bits and have fun with it. what is illegal about that :

YOU PAY FOR ELECTRICITY AND YOUR MACHINE AND SOFTWARE HAVENT U ?

You do realise thought that that really ISN'T how it works, no matter what you tell yourself to justify it, right?

Untill you buy that software, you are alowed to use the demo, that's it. There is NO leeway, there is NO exception. There is no "having to compare things".

You are using things you have stolen (which are worth hundreds of dollars individualy) to make money, no matter how little it may be.

Most people only do the equivalent of shoplifting some CDs, but you've gone all out and stollen a mixing console, multi-track recorder, hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of effects/synths/instruments.

If I want to play a guitar (or any instrument), I can't just go and steal one and decide to pay it when playing guitar starts making me money.

You're an incredible hypocrite in this whole 'conversation', and you're actually worse than the people who just play tracks they could get for 1-3$ out at a party.
I'm feeling over 9000 right now..

Definition of our digital age, music you like, the way you want it played. Mix tapes are out, mixes are in.

you know what, we could continue for hours like that, because i could argue that if someone GAVE you a guitar for free, you cant make money out of it?

youd reply somethinbg like "then the dude who gave it to you paied for it"

then i would go "what if he stole it, and you dont know"

and that would continue for hours...

i am sorry not to share the same point of view in this particular subject, so it will end there.

but remeber, you cant make money if you dont make tracks, if you dont buy your software BEFORE producing, you cant make tracks, if you dont make money, you cant buy software.
vicious circle, everybody has his way of getting out of it sooner or later.

i do, but i dont make 10 000$ a day

that is what im currently explaining, i buy stuff gradually, but you cant expect people to have all the gear in one day. which seems to be all of your's point.

i buy stuff, but not all together in one day.

well i did said i bought some of them, and intend to buy the rest when i make enough money to actually PAY for it.

then screwhead told that i shouldn't use them because that its not paid RIGHT NOW.

the timeline was implicit.

but whatever, for my side, its nothing personal against any of you, its all opinions talking and sharing, and thats what i like.

even tho i understand all your point and you all seem to ignore mines, that wont change a thing, i wont stop producing and doing what i love the most just because some of you are not happy about it.

vst's cracked or not, people on the dancefloor dig my tracks, and thats what important, not the money, not the means, the result is.

Well, without the gear, you can't make the music. But the gear costs money. So, you are stealing, but will "make up for it" later.

Man I wish life worked like that.

"Hey, I can't afford this car, but I'll just take it and pay the owner back when I can!"

"Man, that's a really awesome shirt. I'll just walk out of the store with it, and then come back and give them the money for it when I can afford it!"

No matter what you tell yourself, no matter how you try and justify it, you are doing exactly what you're "against" in people making money off of things they didn't pay for. It doesn't matter that you "plan" on paying for it "when you can afford it".

The fact of the matter is:
you stole software, period.
You have made money from stolen software, period.
You are no better than the people who DJ out using soulseek'd MP3s, period.

It doesn't matter how much money you make in a day, a year, a lifetime. If you can't afford something, then you "aquire" it in some way, without paying the full/proper price to whoever holds the copyright/distribution, then you are doing something that is wrong and illegal. There's no shades of grey here, it's 100% black or white: Did you pay for it? yes; good for you. No; then you've stolen something.

I'm just saying you should maybe re-think your whole oppinion on people playing out with downloaded MP3s, because what you're doing is no different than what they're doing.

Ever think that maybe they're following their passion, the sole thing that keeps them alive, just like you are?

now, heres a link to an illegal copy of one of my tracks, if that makes you feel better.

yes, as i want people to download my track illegally to start mixing in thier bedroom, to learn how to and love the music, then once they get big they buy it.

im telling you, this is going nowhere, in fact, there is no black or white, only shades of grey depending on where your standing!
Update » Deadfunk wrote on Thu Nov 6, 2008 @ 6:09pm
i think, if i lived out of the money i make from tracks, then id agree with you all the way, but its not the case, so i wont stop producing, and im not the worse, ive seen big names being interviewed my magazines with screen shots of thier computer and you see cracked vst's.
