As the previously posted article pointed out, we tend to form a better first impression of people that are attractive as opposed to those who aren't. On the other hand, our perception of a person's appearance is also shaped by our perception of character. For example, I can think of a few people who seemed physically attractive initially, but who no longer seem as physically attractive after knowing them longer. The converse is true as well. |

Desperation Ever go out with someone who you found BUTT ugly and who had absolutely NO personality traits that were enjoyable, just because you were sick and tired of being single or in a relationship you hated? Unfortunately, I have. Once in a while, you just throw ALL the shit people tell you about "what makes a person attracted to another" because no matter how many people try and define attraction and what causes it, there will be one person who has a new version that was never thought of to add to the list. Case in point, the THING on the right was my first GF. Looks weren't a thing, because I'm mainly into skinny goth-like chicks. Her personality was as abrasive as hydrochloric acid, plus she was LOUD, anoying, and as I found out too late, yet just in time, a total fucking slut that tried fucking my 2 best friends (and managed to nail one, who never told me and obviously is now NOT a friend) and completely fucked her way through the John Abbot theater courses. So, sometimes, looks AND personality have *NOTHING* to do with why people go out. (That was a relationship that, had it lasted for 3 more weeks, would have been 1 year long, btw) |

Everyone calls it "relationships". True, it is, but when you people say that relationships are overrated be specific. Or at least know what it is your were getting into. Relationships under your meanings are NOT overrated. I think casual dating is overrated.. When your "seeing" someone or going with someone you cant call that a relationship under what some of you percieve a relationship to be. You just say that your seeing the person or whatever but from what I've seen someone always looses themselves and it starts to mean more then it is.. sometimes it happens to both and it ends up being a good thing but when it doesnt and the "relationship" ends, someone always comes out saying relationships suck. I think whatever made those relationships end or whatever was lost sight of is what sucks. Not the relationship its self. Its a wonderful thing, or else we wouldnt have a day celebrating it. You can never make something it isnt. You can try and you can hope but changing the way something is, is like creating an illusion, covering whats really there. If you cant apreciate what is there, then don't go for it. Don't change it. Relationships are hard, but i'll never say they suck, and I take back ever saying they do if I have. When you fully understand how what you share with a person is your complete self and realize that that is the most amazing thing in the world and everytime your able to feel a new emtotion even if its for a split second.. If that ever ends for whatever reason, you can never say it SUCKED. I am in an amazing relationship and yes its had its sucky momments and its ups and downs, but if and when it ever ends, I will never say it sucked. I'll see it like a memory of an adventure where I learned and experienced things and felt things I will keep with me forever. Like going to the most beautiful beach in the world and taking in its amazing sunsets and sunrises and smells. When that ends, do you say it sucked??.. I deffinitly hope not. And megan, if your in a relationship but your longing for another one.. then you arent getting what you want, or just aren't ready for what it is. |
