| Coolness: 93760 | sick venue. I dont think charging for a free event is necessarily rediculous either. Renting a sound system costs money, and ravers arent always so forthcoming with donations. Further, considering the cost of fines to the promoters if cops bust it, I dont think its unfair to charge at the door.
The problems occur if 1) The rave is advertised as free, or the cost of the rave isnt advertised, and then it turns out to be 10$. Because unless stated that the rave is going to cost, you expect it to cost 0$ cuz its in a public space 2) if you pay and the rave sucks. 10$ is pretty pricey for a rave thats in a public space. Cost to cover sound + shitty art + a small fee for bearing risk of fines + a small profit, shouldn't be more than a few $ per person if 100 people show up. how much does sound cost to rent anyways? I couldnt imagine more than a couple hundred? |
