It's really funny -even though everyone has been saying the same thing- about how they can judge art, not being art because it wasn't made by a 4-year old named Nicholas. But I clicked "Art" for all of them, and I only got two right... Even though they all seemed to have held artistic value to them. Especially the glass flutes that were aranged in the vase, that were bought from the salvation army. Okay! Just because you bought them from the salvation army and only cost $1.49, doesn't mean that they can't be used to create art! Looks like an interesting report none the less. |

I know someone who's tried different styles and is now into "abstract art". This person can draw a landscaping or a person like no other. She's awesome...but she likes abstract. Taking something (someone, an idea a concept) and expressing it in its most basic structure. But I'm not an artist myself...and I used to think like you. But after I saw what she can do...I now believe there not ALL painters that can't paint and thus fell back on abstract art but some of them are actually talented in their work...we just can't see it. She does though. |

Saying shit like "Well, you wouldn't get it, but it's really deep and full of meaning." is so fucking pretentious it makes me want to vomit. If you want people to take your "art" seriously, then don't try and "subliminaly" insult them when they "don't get it" just so that you can feel good about yourself for being such a "superior" being that you can get "in tune" with your inner nature and "express it" for a quick buck. |

i'm just going to post here and say that some art, in particular abstract art, isnt concerned with whether or not a four year old painted it, but with the sentiment put behind it. hence, daubbles and splatter and streaks and one little dot in the very corner of the canvas. |

Art can be made of anything, as long as it is placed in a certain context. Art is supposed to provoke an emotional response. judging from the many "oh this is crap, i could have done that" responses i've read, then most of it was art for it provoked you ;) |
