doom 3 didn't have any outdoor levels, not to mention the engine is nowhere near as detailed.
in half-life 2 physics actually mean something, everything has mass, gravity is 9.8m/s/s and from what i've seen, there's even friction.
doom3 has no such special features. |

Doom3 was all about pixel shading and their dynamic lighting system. They put normal mapping everywhere in the game, THAT was special and it was showing some interesting new technologies.
even tho I didn't liked the game either
Half Life 2 is more all about the Havoc physic system and is way more gameplay oriented than doom3, that's why it's so hot. |
