Dubstep reminds me of when i used to babysit toddlers back in highschool and they would smash down on their sound effects keyboard non sense. At other times it reminds me of a cracked out fire alarm
My opinion Just not for me

Yep, that's the skull step shit. If there's no "dub raggae" sounds being used in it, like traditional dub samples, I don't bother anymore.
Ex: printer jam remix. Gives me a headache. But I play the flip, white collar grime, cause he uses those echoey dub drums in it. |

It's Drum & Bass. Dubstep is the ketamine-snorting pot-smoking bastard child of D&B... or slow D&B if you like.

Did you guys listen to the printer jam remix or original? I hear the remix on some dance mix friday night on the radio. Sometime two weeks ago.
And dubstep to me, should have dub noises in it, like echoey drums and or ragga guitars strumming wtv! Anything that seperates it from "WAMPWAMPWAMPWAMPWAMPWAMP!!!!" |

I've said it before and I'll say it again... dubstep has such a wide appeal to anyone one who likes anything... sure you got those pure noisy wobble based tunes which kinda sound like dubstep producers trying to impress dnb heads with how hard dubstep can be (and pretty offen... it works... look at RCA ;) )... but you also got stuff that's reggae influenced with dubby effects and floating around in space echos... Then you got some stuff closed to trip hop based stuff with really deep bass and an etheral feeling to them...
seriously... name me any style and I'll point you towards a dubstep tune or artist that incorporates influences from that style... (except maybe psy... I'd have a hard time finding that)
I'm feeling lovely right now.. |

isnt dubstep around 70 bpm?
i have yet to see how one can confuse 70 bpm music with 180bpm..!

well, its 140 bpm for practical purpuse, because its 70 bpm for real (as in up(one and three) and down(two and four, snares) beats, in 4/4)
otherwise it would be breaks (at 140bpm) Update » Deadfunk wrote on Fri Oct 2, 2009 @ 10:29am producers do it a 140 bpm for practical reasons, composing at 70 bpm on this style wouldn't be practical, since there is alot of elements involved, so having it double speed is practical
I'm feeling hardcore right now.. |
