I really want to know what people think about what this life is for:
Do you believe we are here to go to school, get a job,buy a house, have kids, make money, grow old, die, pass money on to kids...repeat with the next generation... YES or NO |

We are here to do what makes us happy.
If that makes someone happy then I say it's all good. |

thats what our (i think i speak for quite a few people here) parents want us to do... but i rebel :P
i try and make myself happy and if some of those things mentioned make me happy, i'll do them. |

I think in your life you should try to find something that has meaning and importance for you, regardless of what others think is a "useful" life, because there is no objective measure to define what is ultimately useful. For alot of people what has meaning and importance for them is raising a family, and in some ways I can relate to that point of view. If a life of pure hedonism is what you find satisfying, then I see nothing wrong in that either, as long as its not at the expense of others. Personally I see my life potentially going in completely different directions, I really dont know how I'm gonna end up so I can't really answer your question now :) |

i don't care if people see it as a "useful life"
or not....i wanna know if people think they are going to do what the majority of parents tell them is "right" (because that's what they did,and their parents before them). Trust me...i'm very glad my parents did it, if they hadn't i wouldn't be here. I find it strange though that not one of you can say YES or NO.... Right now, at this point in your life, is the scenario i presented what you are striving for/working towards(or drifting towards)? |

i dont think lots of people end up having kids because they plan to way in advance, what usually happens is...
1) in teens / 20's focus on fun, go to parties, travel, etc 2) in process of #1 end up meeting someone who you absolutely crave and would rather live a routine life with than continue #1 alone 3) eventually end up settling down with that person and deciding to have kids together so personally i'm still at #1, whether the rest will happen i dunno but its more how things end up working out and not so much what my plans are... |

who cares what we are here for. As long as you are here just live your best, live happy. If the next world comes then live that world to your best. When i die i see what happens but im not going to stay in the future but live the present.
your questions will be answer soon, just wait a year or two |

if you do meet that special someone...why must you settle down? Why can't you still have beliefs,opinions....
And if you do settle down, are you just going to be a complacent couple that watches the news and says "oh look honey, another 1000 people died today" "oh...tragic, so should we get the green car or a black car" I did #1 and #2, we both agreed that #2 was the death of who we were (not the loving part, the routine part sapped us dry) |

Everything becomes routine after a while. The "party life" is already starting to get a little repetitive and it's only been like, 9 months. Sooner or later EVETRYTHING becomes routine.
Go to a house party friday, get tanked and smoke weed. Go to a rave saturday, do mdma/speed and get fucked and dance all night, lather, rinse, repeat next weekend. You just don't notice it's become a routine because it's still enjoyable, just like the routine of settling down as a couple is enjoyable if you find the right person. |

Sure yeah alot of people get a job.. get married.. have kids and all that crap.
But there are so many other things that some people experience and others do not. We live life the way we want to. Some people don't even want to get married.. or have their own kids, like myself. |

well, to answer this poll, you must understand that since i was a child, the only vision i ever had of the future was a family and children... i think i am here to reach that goal... to havea family and love them with all my heart and not need anything else to make me happy... be entirely satisfied with my own little family world... |
