SEATTLE MAN GUILTY IN DEATHS OF TWO EVERETT MEN

A Seattle man can expect to spend the rest of his life in prison after
being convicted Thursday of aggravated murder in connection with two
drug-related killings near Marysville early last year.

The verdict appeared to be little surprise to Eric Lee Krueger, 23.

His sentencing is scheduled for Thursday.

Krueger went on trial Monday in Snohomish County Superior Court. Besides
aggravated first-degree murder, he was charged with two counts of
first-degree murder and one count each of conspiracy to commit first-degree
murder, first-degree robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The jury found him guilty of all but one charge. Jurors told Judge Joseph
Thibodeau they simply could not agree on whether Krueger had conspired to
commit first-degree murder.

All of the charges were linked to the Jan. 13, 1997, shootings of Ronald
Greenwood and Brady Brown, both 24, of Everett. The men died in a robbery
that netted $50 and 1 1/2ounces of methamphetamine.

Prosecutors acknowledged that Krueger did not physically cause the death of
either man, but is responsible under the law, because he was an accomplice
in planning the crime.

One of Krueger's accomplices, Robert Edward Anderson, 23, of Marysville,
told police he shot Brown and Greenwood as the pair looked into a bag
supposedly containing cash, according to court papers.

Anderson was convicted of aggravated murder in November. He's since been
sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison without possibility of
release.

Krueger can expect the same sentence. Prosecutors earlier decided against
seeking the death penalty for either man.
