I am utterly astounded at the drivel and outright fabrications that those
opposed to cannabis use have been spreading lately. In regards to the
letter "Pot more dangerous than ever" by Tony Hawk (Oct. 27):

As to the THC content: Where did this information come from? The average
THC concentration in Alaska cannabis is 9.5 percent, and the highest
recorded in the nation (33 percent) was found in Oregon! Didn't he read the
ADN's (well-written) two-parter on Proposition 5 a few weeks ago?

THC isn't stored in fat cells; its metabolites are. In any case, can he
point me to any scientific evidence that states that this matters?

"Marijuana is responsible for much death and destruction." When? Where?
Again I challenge him to point me to a single incident. And as to users
going to great length to get their substance of choice, you can't imagine
the effort people will put forth to get alcohol. I've worked in a grocery
store for four years; you'd be amazed at the things I've seen.

If cannabis is really so dangerous, why can't its opponents turn people off
to its use by stating the facts? Why must they resort to lies?
