DJ's are just so damn fresh. The way they hoard the booth waiting their turn, Then they play other peoples music. I just can't wait till the next time I get to pay 20$ to see a monkey spin a vinyl disk.
HOORAY FOR UN-ORIGINALITY!! |

you're telling me the dj's don't make all the music they spin? wtf.. I feel like I just found out santa claus doesn't exist.
next thing you're gonna tell me the music is made by some nerd on a computer? |

Yes, I have seen good dj's play.
All I'm saying iz that It would be nice to see more live acts at parties. When was the last time you saw Korn, go to a show, and just put on a System of a Down cd? Never! So why must it be this way when it comes to electronic music? |
Good [+1]Toggle ReplyLink» neoform a répondu le Sun 27 Oct, 2002 @ 5:48pm |
cause korn is a band.
seing a live techno act is like seing the chemical bro's preform.. THEY DON"T DO ANYTHING, they just set off triggers, and the computer does everything.. it would be exactly the same as listening to a CD.. cept with a DJ he choses what to play on the spot.. |

I object to that last remark!
I've heard some amazing live PA's. It is possible to improvise a lot with electronic instruments (even computers). There will be 2 live acts at Extreme Terror by the way (hint!) And if you think Korn and System of a Down are innovative, you must have a pathetic musical culture. |

I don't know exactly, but I've seen pictures of Hellz Army live with a bunch of computers all hooked up to a mixing board... I guess they make up patterns and wreck the shit live! |

well like i said about the chemical bro's.. they go nuts in their booth, which is packed with equipment.. but there is no possible way they can be actually doing what they show themselves to be doing..
so it's just a show.. personally i don't go to parties for a show, i go to hear good music. :)P i don't care wheather it's a live show or DJ.. buit generally DJ's tend to play more good music, since they aren't limited to music that they've made themselves.. |

Your argument isn't too strong, because the Chemical Brothers are (or used to be?) popular, and their audience expects to recognize the tracks during a show. Maybe that's why a live PA from them sounds almost the same as their original recordings.
I could give you loads of examples of real live electronic shows that sound completely different from the records. |

live acts rock, yes
but a good dj can make any music that he/she made or didnt sound so much different than the original, dependent on setting/mood, tracks that preceded it, tracks that follow, and blend it into the ambience of the room so that it sounds heaps better than just putting it on. dont forget DJs are artists too even if they dont produce |

first of all... never mention Korn again, lest you want to be smitten... second, yes live acts are good if you want to watch it and be entertained (though im no so sure about the entertainment part when talking about *shudders* Korn) third... dont go to places with djs, did anyone twist your arm and force you? and if so... dont let people do that |

I'm going to take a wild guess that afro, like me, has or had a ticket for the show on june 27th. And from what I've seen so far, korn can throw a hell of a show, though I can't see them toping the 2001 Ozzfest. |
