So i gots me a new comp, plopped a 9800 in it, but it seems to be causing problems.
It'll randomly put my monitor to sleep, and wont wake up.. i haffa do a hard reset (back of box) to turn it off, then power it back up.. I have yet to find any conclusive answers to the prob on the web yet.. |

I've narrowed it down to it overheating.. cause wow that card gets hot.
Question is.. why.. |

I'm weary of those cards now.. I think noah had one and it was randomly crashing.. perhaps from the same heat related problems |

ok, i've figured it out.
ATI cards don't like it when you overclock yer CPU.. i turned off the Overclocking AI and suddenly the vid card's temp went down, and no more crashes... yay |

Uhmmm ,well, duhhh! When you overclock your FSB, that affects the card, too. And since the card is gonna think it can run faster, it's going to overclock itself also, which also includes upping it's vcore. Just get a hacked driver and under-clock the card whem your overclocking the computer. |

Ooooooooooooookay.
As usual. it was something stupid. very stupid. much like when noah heard me realize that my HDs weren't plugged in, which was why i couldn't find em in the BIOS.. aaaaaaaaaanyway. it turns out there was a wire from the case fan jamed into the heatsink/fan on the graphics card.. causing the fan to stop spining, and overheat the card....... Woooooooooooooops. why i didn't notice that earlier.. i dunno. but the cards way cooler now and doesn't crash. hah. |
