All I have to say, is I don't trust them...
I was arrested once in my life for stealing beer in a Provisoir (depanneur) I was 16 at that time, so while the cop was taking my finger tip he start asking me what kind of panties Im wearing? I didn't answer so he kept asking me are they black, white, or with flowers...finally he stop because I was just fixing him with so much arrogance.
Since that day...les cops c'est des chiens...thats it, they might do their jobs and I guess they are not all pigs...but, I don't give a damn fuck.
Somehow they are necessary, these to much ass hole in this world but to often I think they are the one creating the manifestation of violence.
I'm feeling a time of no time right now..

these days , protesting gets you nowhere.

two times in the past month or so people have formed a human chain across downtown toronto protesting to stop the genocide in sri lanka ... did anything happen because of it ? Nope!

Abortion protesters burn down abortion clinics .. blow them up .. anything happen because of it ? nope!
I'm feeling bored right now..

Taking the previous examples of sexism and visible minorities, the protest weren't isolated (almost a yearly reminder), but an honest, persistent, consistent demonstration of peoples will stopping at nothing to have things changes ; including support groups, lobbying, sensibiliaiton, education, ... AND protestation ; today's version are just demands without any effort, like cry babies, and those are compelling right ? Serious action brings serious results.

Anyway you sound cynical so I'll stop here.

Protesting publicly is just a normal human reaction to shows your support or dismay about various things but the act of protesting itself doesn't actually impact the proper channels, honestly.

As much as you protest about global warning, the act itself does not fix anything, it just serves as a means to educate and letting people know we need to address this by moreless forcibly disrupting as many people's lives in the process, paralyzing downtown during rush hour, attracting media attention, making the 6 o'clock news and trying to get your message heard.

Attracting news crew worked incredibly well in the 1970s...but this is the 21st century.

You can get your message heard on 15 different social networking sites and anyone with a phone, cellphone, laptop or computer can access this from ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. Plus, unless you've been living on Mars or in a shack deep in the woods for the past 50 years and have no access to any soft of informational technology whatsoever, you KNOW global warming is a problem. You KNOW police brutality is present. You know this issues very well exist.

And if you haven't or couldn't be online to be made aware about such important issues, rest assured a coworker, a family member or your friends will and, if the message is powerful enough, they will tell you about it so you can spread the word.

With so many medium available nowadays, I feel you don't need 500 people with banners marching in the streets downtown to be made aware of important issues or educated about them.

It's flashy, it's fun and you can physically be with other people who believe in the same message but it doesn't concretely fix anything.
I'm feeling like nico bellic right now..

What kind of happening could get you out of your home to defend what you believe in?

its all a matter of believing in something. if you think everything is ok as long as you get 3 meal a day its fine, you dont need to protest anything.

Protesting is more about implenting idea in collective imaginary than actually change things on the spot.

anyway slow changes are lasting changes

i always being told , and honestly believe as well ( integrity ) that changeing the world start with yourself. the whole world could be thinking otherwise , and nothing would shake my foundation. and i would try to be a rolemodel not for other people but for myself , so i wouldnt fail myself.

remember the cigarette smoker problem ?

[ en.wikipedia.org ]
The cigarette smokers problem is a concurrency problem, originally described in 1971 by S. S. Patil.

Positive people always win in the end, always and forever. It is possible to be realistic and positive at the same time, it might be the harder path, but its fruits always taste better.

ON TOPIC: I think that there are corrupt police officers for sure, I've even met some first hand, but at the end of the day, truly they have one of the toughest jobs day in, day out. In my heart I believe the good cops are the ones who are true hero's, the bad ones are like bad people in any profession, they just didn't get enough love.

I would like a show of hands on how many people would risk their lives on a daily basis for a starting salary of 27k?

Ufot-a negative future has less place for negative people

If people protested in a non violent way, maybe they would get somewhere.
Causing ruckus in the streets is not going to make anyone want to help your cause

man , you seen when they empty "oka"'s barricade when they surrender ?

the army were hitting them, (i know they had guns and all , but this is a dog chasing tail figure)

anyways , i was revolted , you dont hit people unless they are hitting ,witch they werent.

it like if a gun shot would go out in my city , and that would leed way to the police to enter every

homes claiming they are doing this to " protect us ".
