 Coolness: 685845 | yeah I'm pretty much stuck with this crap. The nutshell version of it is: part of my gastrointestinal nervous system got overly sensitive and "cross-wired". Food that's hard to digest and certain enzymes that are irritants have more of an effect on me than people normaly, so if I eat something 'bad', my intestines being more sensitive "feel" it more.
This is where the cross-wiring part comes in. My pain and anxiety centers are cross-linked. So, if I eat something bad, my intestines hurt, and the pain stimulates the anxiety center, which stimulated the pain center, etc. etc. loop and repeat, leaving me with an uncontrollable, escalating panic attack and a pain that feels like I've got a knitting needle jabbed into my intestine that's being moved around. And, if I get nervous/anxious, that stimulates the pain receptors for my gut, so even if I didn't eat anything bad, my gut starts hurting, I panic more, etc.. etc.. And when the gut is in pain, it's defense mechanism is to purge, incase you've got a poison or something harmfull, so either situation ends up with my ass glued to the toilet every 45m to 1h (which I now have to take a bath/shower after each time 'cause of having had a really bad 2 weeks in feb. that ended with a 2cm tear from over-use. very unpleasent) ... And this is why I'm barely ever out at parties or club nights. If I get an attack, I need to take a crap (and really, have you seen the mens bathrooms at most clubs?) and then get a lift home, like, NOW, which wouldn't normaly have been much of a problem, but my roommate being unemployed and on UI while looking for a job, couldn't afford his car anymore. |
