Its official, Apple now makes the worlds fastest computers with the just announced G5 processor.

64 bit architecture, 2ghz, 1ghz bus speed.

At the WDDC, it is smoking the Pentium Xeon dual procs with photoshop, benchmark being a 300mb file running 100 actions.

But before you make judgements and opinions, its only wise to wait till the g5 is put to the real world, and see how much shit its going to break, now that its a 64bit proc running 32bit applications.

yeah except for almost every big audio company...

I think the transition from 32 to 64 bit shouldn't be too bad.. apple was able to go from the 680xx motorola chips to the powerpc without much problems in the early to mid 90's, and that was a jump from one architecture to another.

i have a 68040 66Mhz mac sitting in my cuboard.. the transition wasn't bad, but i bought my computer just as 68k macs were going out of proction, stupid me.
