PROHIBITION IS THE LINK BETWEEN DRUGS AND TERROR

Dear Editor,

Robert Novak's recent column on drugs and terrorism shows how effectively
the prohibitionist ideology hampers cognitive function. Novak's
prohibitionist blinders hopelessly obscure the real connection between
drugs and terrorism.

Allow me to remove the blinders. Suppose alcohol prohibition had never
been repealed and terrorists were able to make easy money manufacturing and
distributing illegal booze. Would we then blame alcohol for enriching
terrorists, or would the blame more properly fall on prohibition?

History has already handed down its verdict on this. Clearly, prohibition
is the link between drugs and terrorism.
