LONG BEACH DARE PROGRAM CUT IN BUDGET STRUGGLES
Budget woes are forcing the city to drop the DARE anti-drug program in
middle schools because half the program's six officers are shifting to
patrol and other duties.
Other police programs will also see cuts as the city moves more officers to
patrol, said Jana Blair, spokeswoman for the police department.
