11 ARRESTED ALLEGEDLY TRYING TO SELL SAILORS CRACK
COCAINE

Police have charged 11 people who were allegedly trying to sell crack
cocaine and marijuana to sailors during the navy's international fleet
review in June.

The undercover operation, dubbed Operation Sea Dog and carried out by
Victoria police and the U.S. naval criminal investigative service,
focused on the 900-block of Pandora Avenue, the area around
Streetlink, Reeson Park and the area around the Via Rail station on
the weekend of June 12.

That weekend, an estimated 8,000 sailors from around the world were in
town.

Four undercover officers posed as sailors wanting to buy drugs and
arrested eight men and three women.

All are well-known to police.
