LAPD BLUES

A brutal police corruption scandal that had largely been contained to one
anti-gang unit is now threatening to engulf the Los Angeles Police
Department, with the district attorney having declared for the first time
that the investigation has broadened to other police divisions and that the
police have been dragging their feet.

With more than 40 tainted cases now overturned, the new disclosures of
abuse have led to demands for an outside investigation, perhaps by federal
prosecutors.
