TEAM ERADICATES 5,300 ADDITIONAL MARIJUANA PLANTS

LYTLE CREEK -- Investigators of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's
Department Marijuana Eradication Team seized more than 5,300 marijuana
plants on San Sevine Peak in a two-day raid, sheriff's deputies said
Wednesday.

It was the third such raid within a month in the area.

The eradication began Monday morning with assistance from deputies in
helicopters. Public information officer Cindy Beavers said the number
of plants at the site was reduced by workers who were seen clearing
the area before investigators began their raid.

The U.S. Forest Service, Riverside County sheriff's narcotics units
and a Los Angeles Airport team helped in the raid.

An investigation is continuing, Beavers said.
