UT STUDENTS DELAY POSITION ON PROPOSED ALCOHOL POLICY

The University of Toledo's student government has delayed taking a position
on a policy under consideration by the UT board of trustees that would
notify parents of some students who violate the school's drug and alcohol
policy.

The policy was discussed, but no decision was made at Tuesday's meeting,
student officials said.

Students will collect more data and input on the subject before the student
senate's next meeting on Tuesday, Justin Prebe, a student senator, said.

The proposed policy would notify parents or guardians of students under 21
who violate the university's drug policy or who are repeat offenders of its
alcohol policy. Parents also would be told if a student needed medical
attention as a result of a violation.
