TULIA CITIZENS WRONGLY ACCUSED

I am very concerned about the publicity Tulia is receiving. I am proud to be
a citizen of Swisher County.

How can any group accuse "everyone" in the community of being a certain way?
I take offense at being grouped into a category without proof.

Has research been done on how the officials at the schools and in the
community have encouraged students to attend college and have written
letters of recommendation for all students? Have outsiders seen the hugs and
tears over successes and failures of our young people no matter who they
are?

The jurors in the Tulia drug case have been accused of being a "lynch mob."
That is a terrible accusation against citizens selected to do a job that is
not easy.

Did anyone hear the prayers and see the tears in the deliberation room? How
do they know how the jurors felt? They made their decisions based on the
evidence and according to our judicial system; we are to accept that
decision.

Why are we allowing the media to make decisions for us? Let us come together
as a community to investigate these accusations by following the law and
using the judicial system as it was intended.

How can officials be accused of wrongdoing without any investigation? Has
America become a country of lawsuits before investigations?

And have we forgotten the bottom line here - to rid the community of drug
dealers?

I appreciate the efforts of our law officials to take a stand against drug
dealers. Many communities are looking the other way. It is simpler.

Sure, we still have dealers here (of all races), and we need to spend our
money and our time finding and arresting them, not fighting lawsuits and
court battles against each other.
