YES TO DRUG CHECKPOINTS Let me see if I understand. The Post believes that checkpoints for illegal aliens are okay because their primary purpose is to protect our borders from illegal aliens ["No to Drug Checkpoints," editorial, Dec. 4]. The Post believes that checkpoints to catch drunk drivers are okay because their primary purpose is to protect our highways from drunk drivers. The Post believes that checkpoints to find illegal drugs are not okay because their primary purpose is to catch criminals. Would The Post agree that checkpoints to find illegal drugs are okay if their primary purpose is to protect our cities from the importation of illegal drugs or to protect our highways from drivers impaired by illegal drug use?
