PLAYER ARRESTED AFTER SETTING RECORD MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Taurean Moy was shooting so well from three-point range that his Booker T. Washington High teammates kept passing him the ball. The senior finished with 83 points and two national records. Moy set records for most threes made and attempted as he went 24-of-43 Tuesday night in his team's 115-59 victory over Manassas. That topped the 21-of-39 by Chad Bickley of Valley Christian Academy of Santa Maria, Calif., on Dec. 28, 1994. ``When I woke up, I couldn't believe that I really did it,'' said Moy, a 6-foot guard. Moy's celebration was dampened Wednesday evening when he was arrested by Memphis police on charges of domestic violence and possession of marijuana. A police report said an officer on patrol arrested Moy after seeing him strike a teen-age female. The report said a bag with a small amount of what appeared to be marijuana was found in Moy's pocket. Moy said the whole thing was a misunderstanding. He said he and his girlfriend were not fighting but ``were just playing around'' as they walked along a Memphis street. ``This is just a big misunderstanding,'' he told The Commercial Appeal of Memphis. Moy scored his team's first 24 points and had 52 by halftime. Coach Fred Horton tried to sit him down when he reached 70 points, but Moy talked Horton into letting him try to top the 80 points scored by Camden (N.J.) senior and University of Memphis signee Dajuan Wagner last season. ``In my 52 years on this Earth, I have never in my life seen anything like it,'' Horton said. ``I've seen a lot of basketball and a lot of great basketball players, but I've never seen a player do something like that. It got to the point to where I just sat back and let him rip it.''
