what I've always done sice i was little to stop my mind from racing, is not only taking deep breaths (which lowers your heart rate) but to start off by thinking about something that makes u happy (for me i start off by imagining that I am on an elevated rollercoaster type thing that goes slowly over the whole city...and i keep on changeing the scenery below me, and let my mind take me somewhere else...I really let go of what i think that my reality is...i imagine that there is a breeze on my face and that the sun is on my back, and i am traveling over water, land mountains....you know the deal...i know I am gettin a little carried away)

this really helped me as i was growing up...let your imagination go wild....you'll realize right before you go to sleep that it was really easy...just don't let your mind go back to the reality of your everyday life...because you are trying to trick yourself into pretending that youare already fast asleep, and in a dreamstate
